The Vicious Penguin (Mcr Bar)

The Vicious Penguin is the MCR bar in Churchill College, Cambridge, and forms the heart of the graduate community in college.

We stock a veritable cornucopia of drinks; from fruit juices to a few things with a little more kick. We have all the usual bar favourites, including a fine selection of wines, ales and whiskies, plus some more unusual items: we currently have a fair supply of grog (it seemed like a good idea at the time). Drinks are cheap, biscuits are free, and if you come along to an academic seminar there'll even be cheese.

For your non beverage-related amusement, various board games are kept in the sports equipment cupboard. The TV room outside also hosts a Wii in the electronics cupboard. The bar has lots of comfy sofas, a mini-library of donated books, and gets plenty of newspapers and magazines, making it an excellent place to come and relax even when the bar itself isn't open. On top of that, we have the best view in college, overlooking the Hepworth on to the playing fields.

Aside from day-to-day activities, special events are held throughout the year, the highlights being our termly Guest Nights.
