The Wax Bar

The Wax Bar is a small salon tucked away on Rose Street. I'm not from Edinburgh, and it took a few minutes to locate. I arrived 7 minutes after my 10am appointment, which was for a 1 hour + slot. I was informed that I'd missed my appointment as a consequence. I explained that it had taken me a few minutes to locate the salon as I was unfamiliar with it, so this seemed a little harsh. The woman said 'I know, but we're short of therapists and you weren't here at 10'. Make of that what you will. I was late - but the fact that I wasn't even offered one of my treatments seems highly unprofessional.

Just had my first wax done, what an amazing experience. It was nothing like I thought is going to be, The wax they used was great and the procedure was not painful, staff were very professional , definitely going back and highly recommend this place .

Excellent service and friendly staff. I was very pleased with the treatment I received, a lot of care and attention was given. I would thoroughly recomemend the Wax Bar as the service is wonderful and the prices very reasonable. Will definitely be going back for further treatments.

I've been trying to find a good nail bar in Edinburgh since I moved here and finally have one. I had my shellac manicure done by Rachel and she was really nice and the manicure was perfect - lasted a good 3 weeks without chipping or peeling. There's a good choice of colours too.

I went to their Fountain Bridge branch when it opened a couple of years ago now and found the manicure there not as good. It chipped quickly and wasn't as well applied. They offered you prosecco whilst you had your nails done (which is always a bonus), but it wasn't chilled and came in thick IKEA glasses that still had the prices on them. Not really what you're looking for when you're going for a touch of luxury - and at nearly £40 a pop it wasn't worth it there.

The Rose St Branch is great though, and would thoroughly recommend.
