Whisky appreciation has been my hobby for a good few years now (and by appreciation I mean quality not quantity. Life is too short for bad whisky, and also for seeing your precious single cask dram downed like water by someone who says they like whisky yet wants to add diet coke to a 25 year old...rant over).
If you really love whisky then you will really love the Whisky Castle. Their selection is superb. They specialise in private bottlings such as Carn Mor and Old Malt Cask but I find I keep coming back to their own bottlings which are often dazzling.
Customer service is second-to-non with friendly and knowledgeable advice available but not forced upon you. Samples of the whisky you want to buy are available which is just brilliant - this is an expensive hobby so to be able to try first is hugely appreciated.
You will not be disappointed here! Slàinte.
Overinflated prices no interest in customer service, customer relationship zero but awsome range of drinks if you can afford them
Incredibly knowledgeable and welcoming, Scott is generous with his time, experience and samples!
And they are mail order...
Family had a great time in the gift shop and cafe attached while daddy "played"...
Amazing selection and staff. Thank you for the recommendations. Will be buying more online or on my next visit.
Amazing range of brands of whisky, several hundreds, from classical names from Speyside to Islay. The ones bottled for the Whisky Castle itself, some of the latter, full cask, are definitely worth the price. A must if one is in the area and loves whisky...
Not as good under new mangment..new owners are very helpful
Huge selection of whiskies and very helpful and knowledgable staff.
Great little Whisky Shop, well worth a detour to Tomintoul to visit. They have a number of bottlings exclusive to Whisky Castle.
Sam is just simply Awesome!! She is very passionate about her whiskies and happy to guide you though her very interesting whiskies.
Really lovely cafe and great selection of whisky. Very nice shop with souveniers.
Got a recommendation to visit the Whiskey Castle from a waiter a couple of towns over. Stopped by and couldn't have been more impressed. Sam, one of the owners, spent an hour and a half or so talking to us about whiskey and let us taste some of the casks specifically bottled for the Whiskey Castle. Her knowledge was fantastic, the selection couldn't have been better, and if I could've fit it in my bag I would've purchased more! Couldn't recommend this place any more highly!
Huge range of different types of whiskey. Great service from staff
Wasn't expecting much more than a tourist trap, but I was pleasantly surprised. We did not have any appreciation for whisky prior- but the enthusiasm and knowledge of the lady (brunette, name forgotten) put us on the right track to discovering how someone could. We had been to distilleries though out Scotland- many of these were tourist mills. Whisky Castle really took the time to let us sample a few whiskies, see a rare old whisky, and learn to appreciate part of Scotland's heritage. Visited in late Sept. Highly recommend a stop if in the area.
Great whiskies, nice and knowledgeable people. Learnt New things and bought a very nice whisky. 😁
Excellent service and friendly staff. Very helpful advices concerning whisky and gin.
