Personally not impressed with this pub. Seemed to smell strongly of urine though that may have been a one off. Still my over riding memory of my visit though. Also 3 of my group were unable to finish their pint of lager as it tastes salty!!

Wait staff was nice enough, but the food was disgusting. Overlooking the fact that both dishes arrived overcooked and under seasoned (smoked salmon and beef pie), we spent my husband's birthday writhing in intestinal distress! Worst food poisoning of my life! I was so sick after, I was almost barred from boarding the plane. Repulsed at this establishments quality control, would never return

A classic old Edinburgh pub! I drank here as a student in the 60's and still love to have a pint here when in town.

This is a very popular pub. Old and small. Had a beer and dinner. Haggis was excellent. Salmon overcooked. So full on a rainy evening we ate at the bar. Bar ladies service was superb. Located at grassmarket where public executions took place once upon a time it was also a market for cattle and horses.

Really great value. I was a bit hesitant but met some friends who recommended it. Had a lovely lunch.

The beer may have been OK but the food definitely wasn't. I ordered a burger and it was more like the sole of a shoe. I sent it back and got a refund.

Lovely little pub, but busy and most tables are reserved for people eating early evening. Beware the folk singers if you want a quiet place to chat.

We tucked in here for a pint and to rest our weary feet. The pub was only at about half-capacity but there was only one waitress and one bartender working. We ordered food to our booth, finished a round of drinks and wanted to order another round but the waitress was far more interested in talking to the bartender. The nachos and beer were very good. The service, not so much.

The White Hart Inn is an Edinburgh must-see if you are at all interested in historic places, Robert Burns or if you just love old pubs. Many claim it is the oldest pub in Edinburgh, dating back from the 1740s, and some say it's haunted. If you are on a pub crawl, It's a must see and a great little place with a friendly atmosphere and live music
