Some of you may be very familiar with the faces below, Emma one of our vet nurses, Nadia one of our receptionists and Nia one of our vets. They have decided to take on the Great North Run this year in aid of a charity very close to Thrums vet group. The GNR is a half marathon based in Newcastle and is less than 3 weeks away!
TheyŌĆÖre raising money to help support wee Caitlin Wilkie and others affected by Bardet-Biedl Syndrome. CaitlinŌĆÖs Mum (our head vet nurse Ashley) and Dad... (Liam) are also running the race! ¤ÅāŌĆŹŌÖĆ’ĖÅ¤ÅāŌĆŹŌÖé’ĖÅ
If anyone can spare any pennies to donate or even take some time to read about the charity it would be much appreciated and a great incentive to keep them running on the day! Click on the link below to find out a wee bit more about the charity and the work they are doing.
WeŌĆÖre looking forward to seeing them all the Monday after at work... we think cake might be needed! ¤Ź░
Good Luck girls! ¤ŹĆ

Staff dog Nelly wasn't well this week. She was coughing and bringing up blood. She had a piece of barley caught in the back of her throat. Luckily she's now fully recovered and back to her usual mischief with her best friend Max. This isn't uncommon at this time of year especially in dogs that like running through the barley fields. Any concerns with your pets we're here to help at Thrums Vet Group.

An interesting article for our dog owners giving a bit of background about Parvovirus.
Given all the recent diarrhoea cases, it is especially important to make sure your dog is covered against Parvovirus. There have been several confirmed cases in the area.
Puppies are especially susceptible to this virus but it can easily be prevented with annual vaccinations. We recommend all puppies should have an additional parvo vaccine at 16 weeks old after their primary vaccination c...ourse.

Whilst visiting Blairgowrie for the day with my Father and my son our tiny, rescue chihuahua, Peanut swallowed a fish hook. I rushed to Thrums where even though I was not a registered client they whisked Peanut off and performed life saving surgery. Not only did they save our dogs life they also offered me a cuppa and a kit kat! Warm, welcoming, friendly staff, who really helped put me at ease. I can not praise this practice and it's staff enough. Thank you Colin Barr, Amy Scott and Mary.

What a great vet practice. All the staff were great. Archie our golden lab seen Alex the vet quite often and we must say he is fantastic. Sadly our old boy had to get put to sleep recently and he couldn't do enough to help us throughout his illness. 110% recommend this practice and the team that work there. Thank you all so much.

User

We take Oscar and Misty to Blairgowrie Thrums and they are fabulous, understanding and caring! Thank you so much for everything you do. You are so patient from reception to the vets and vet nurses!

Oscar has been in the best hands and you've been so compassionate to him and to us!

Very trustworthy and knowledgeable!

Highly recommend these vets!

User

Vets are all brilliant. They really care. Definetly would reccommend them.

Thrums is the best vet! My poor cat Marley (not even 2 so still a baby) had an accident (not 100% sure if was a car or what had happened) and had to have his front leg amputated and one of his canines out. They were so helpful and did an amazing job! Plus its only been a couple days and Marley is as happy as he was before’┐Į Except for having to be stuck inside for now hah Couldnt recommend thrums enough. Thank you for the amazing job yous done, your staff are so helpful and nice too.

User

This is the best Vet ever, 1st class service from every member of staff from the cleaners to the Vets themselves, if you want your pet well cared for and looked after every step then this is the place you should go. Forfar and Kirriemuir both outstanding practices. I can't thank them enough:-)

User

The service level is quite honestly exceptional. Moved away from the area over three years ago and after one trip to a local veterinary practice, I reregistered all my pets back with Thrums. They've came out to perform surgery on my dog on Christmas morning, have made home visits for my cat with dementia, and in sadder moments, made the passing of much loved family members that little bit easier to cope with.

Why would you go anywhere else!

User

Thank you to Thrums in Blairgowrie who very quickly helped out my Rhodesian Ridgeback who had some sort of carcass stuck in his abdomen, what who knows ! Thank you

User

My puppy Rory has just finished his three weeks of Puppy Party! It was absolutely fantastic and the veterinary nurses and everyone who helped out were superb. Great advice given every week and the pups had a great time. Rory and Koda definitely did anyway! Thanks also for refreshments for us owners. Great experience and would definitely recommend to anyone with a puppy... Well done Thrums Vet Group!

My collie ate a chicken bone that someone had just left outside our house and it was lodged in her throut the great staff in Thrums Blairgowrie managed to remove it and save my pups life myself my wife and our kids thank all the staff for the great service they provide

User

My Kara had to have an op. recently and they looked after her brilliantly as she is very timid and had never been to a vet while with us and the nurses who took out her drain and stitches were very patient with her and she has made a full recovery now thank you to you all.

User

Lovely to catch up with Gavin at Thrums Veterinary Group this evening with the DearestDarlingDaisyDrizzlePoop. Full check up, manicure, and AOK after the vomiting session yesterday, to which Colin took time to react on the phone. She has been given meds and another appt in Kirriemuir on Monday when we are back up from Fife. It was special to meet again someone who had taken such good care of our 5 Kirrie Danes after so long. I couldn't fault them those years ago and can't fault them now..... and to feel DDDDP will be in good hands if required while in Angus is peace of mind. Thank you. Regards Anne x

Kirriemuir Thrums vets are absolutely brilliant, all the staff are beyond great and they take much pride in the care and treatment they give to each and every pet. My two naughty labs have gotten themselves into nasty states before and Thrums vets did an amazing job in getting them better. Cannot thank your professionalism and passion for the health care of animals enough.

User

Just have to say that Colin was absolutely amazing this morning. He made my family so at ease about a very emotional event. Thanks so much.

User

I cannot recommend this practise and the lovely staff enough! such a wonderful practise, the staff cannot do enough to help and the vets are such professionals and truly care about the animals in their care.

After 2.5 years of having a sick bunny that visited almost monthly, i'll miss seeing their smiley faces. I was always an overprotective bunny mama but I truly believe that Bandit was always in the best hands when in their care and always felt I could trust them to make the best decisions for him as they are very knowledgeable (especially vet Helen when it comes to rabbits).

highly recommend this fantastic bunch!

User
