Whilst we are all in lock down I'm going to keep posting every now and then even though the cottage is closed both to guests and us. Not all will be holiday related. I might just post stuff that has raised my spirits in the hope it does yours. So here is something that distracted me last year and will be even more important this year. There is an osprey nest about 5 miles from the cottage which has a live web cam for round the clock watching. Warning: it is addictive watching.... The camera was switch on a couple of weeks ago as we wait for the arriving of the resident pair after over-wintering in Africa. They are expected in a couple of days time 🤞 In the meantime an owl visited the nest last night. In 2019 an owl terrorised our osprey mum night after night as he looked for an easy meal of eggs/chicks. Mum defended her offspring night after night so that the owl had to look elsewhere for a meal. He's back......and waiting too?
The main Characters so that you can follow the webcam story... mum - Aila dad - Louis 2017 son - Lachlan - expect back from Africa for the first time since migrating in 2017- he'll be chased off his parent's nest Rannoch - 2019 daughter - will remain in Africa Mallie - 2019 daughter - will remain in Africa Pine marten - raided the nest 2018 and ate all 3 eggs Owl - 2019 nest bully

There's lot of stuff on the internet to keep us amused whilst in isolation. I enjoyed this and hope you do too. I'll keep posting bits and pieces, some holiday related, some not. Stay safe and stay at home!

As per Nicola Sturgeon’s announcement on 23 March, Tigh Mo Mhiann closed with immediate effect. We did so with a really heavy heart yet fully understand why this is needed. It’s a temporary closure and we hope to be trading again at some point. We've contacted all our guests due to stay March, April and May. Your replies have truly moved us. It’s been really tough thinking through how best to deal with these enforced cancellations. Some holiday accommodation providers decided... not to return any payments; whilst others will only consider a date postponement to later in the year. We respect their decisions. Our response has been to shoulder all of the cost. This decision was not taken lightly. Whilst cottage owners in England and Wales will receive support from the UK government without question, the Scottish support is still under discussion……Even though we pay all our taxes and dues, we may fall “between the gaps”. What you can do for us though is to rebook your stay at Tigh Mo Mhiann immediately this nightmare is over. Please support our small business and all the other small businesses in the Highlands, many are dependent on visitors for their income. Until then, look after yourselves and stay safe. We assume you are OK for toilet rolls!

As snow sweeps across Scotland this weekend I thought I'd share this lovely little video with you.
The video tells the story of a Scottish ski legend Helen who skied every month of the year for 10 years - 120 continuous months of skiing. And despite a cancer diagnosis.
On the one hand there are some stunning snowy scenes from the Cairngorms and on the other some awesome views from the Nevis Range ski area.
... Just so you know: Nevis Range ski area - 20 min drive from the cottage. Glencoe Mountain resort - 60 min drive from the cottage Cairngorms - 2 hours drive from the cottage . There's lots of snow right now but sometimes it's a bit too windy for the uplifts. Check out before planning a ski day.

We know that many of you come to stay so you can hike in the hills around. Please take care when out and about, the winter weather is very unkind at present.
