About Toby Carvery

Here at Toby Carvery Shenstone, we believe there's only one way to do our beloved British roast – and that's properly.

Toby Carvery Description

When it comes to roast dinners, we really know our stuff. Every day our chefs lay on a feast of tender, hand-carved meats with all the trimmings – including towering Yorkshire puds, golden roasties with all those lovely little crunchy bits, and plenty of freshly prepared veg, all crowned with proper gravy. So it's no wonder we're Lichfield's favourite carvery restaurant.

RISE AND SHINE @ Toby Carvery Shenstone! Brilliant Breakfast. Start your weekend the right way #FRIDAYBREAKFAST 🥓🍳
8am - 11am

User

Went to Toby yeterday for a birthday celebration, and the meal was lovely. We were in a large party of 11 (should have been 16) and was accommodated very well indeed with a lovely table in a quieter part of the restaurant away from the bar, nice as we had our young son with us. The meals were hot and very tasty. There were 4 meats, which was great. My only grumble was the beef seemed a little bit chewy, but it was coming to and end. The puddings were fabulous I would definitely eat here again.

User

Went for breakfast. All was good and the wonderful Lady serving customers could not have been more pleasant. My wife likes to go out for a birthday breakfast and it was spot on!

User

Our Carvery was lovely yesterday apart from the amount of meat you get which is hardly any so l think that needs to be brought to attention of the Chef & Management,we thought the service was excellent & hopefully next time we go the meat matter will be sorted out

User

Myself and my family had a lovely carvery here today for Mother's day, it was very busy but by the time we got our drinks our table was ready. This wasn't our first visit and won't be our last! We love this Toby Carvery, great food and lovely friendly staff, always made very welcome. Be back soon :)

User

Fantastic carvery. Loved everything about it. Great dessert. Lovely staff. Next time we come down that way will definitely visit.

User

Always look forward to a delicious Carvery here, friendly staff, we turned up little late but wasn't a problem, it was busy but we had a choice where to sit. Plenty of veg to choose from although I did miss my chopped cabbage. Meat just melted cooked beautiful even the kids ate everything. Ordered desserts came quite quickley. Compliments to the chefs in the kitchen :-) l drive a distance to visit Shenstone and wouldn't change to any other!

User

After having a really bad meal at Toby Sutton park that the four of us couldn’t eat we decided to give the Toby at Shenstone a try only one thing I can say about it Absolutely fantastic. Ross the manager is a credit to the company and all the staff were brilliant and friendly also a big thank you to Lucy who really looked after us even the chefs found time to be friendly and chat even though they were busy. Thank you and will see you very soon

User

A clean restaurant, friendly staff and excellent food. Especially the ice-cream. Going back Thursday for lunch with friends.

User

Pretty good as carveries go but some of the veg looked a little dry & tired but taste was good.

User

We always enjoy a carvery and glad we can book a table now but it is still a massive wait for food and then beef was not available for a further 30 mins the food area was bit messy and we got splashed with fat when the meat trays were changed.

User

Went yesterday for celebration meal. Not up to its best Chef very miserable and he couldn't of cut the meat any thinner it wasn't worth putting on our plates, the whole meal was very bland no taste at all, no ice cream as machine wasn't working, not good enough when you have to pay for a meal your not happy with x as we were sitting looking around there are thick cobwebs above gravy counter and seating area, not Upton standard x surely the meat should be as thick as picture that are advertised FALSE advertising if you ask me

User

My daughters favourite eating out meal however it wasn't upto it's usually good standards. The serving counter was a mess, only carrots, peas & sweetcorn avaiable 🙄 carving chef huffed & puffed when I asked if he wouldn't mind cutting the fat off the beef and then when we received our bill advised we had a children's voucher and asked if we could use it the lady ?manager rolled her eyes and made a point of saying "well I can but I'm in the middle of this right now" again not the great customer service we have always had when visiting you. For the first time we didn't finish our drinks nor have a dessert we just paid & left disappointing Toby carvery shenstone 😕

User

disappointing breakfast ,as no mushrooms and no one to ask about them .Sausages looked undercooked .Also lawn mower was going right beside us _mower was ok he had ear phones in !not trying to enjoy a peaceful if mushroom less breakfast

User

Went there last night for a meal all the veg tasted like water it was horrible the gravy was also like water no taste to anything actually ... then we ordered a desert ( Strawberry and passionfruit Eaton mess ) it contained 2 tinned Strawberry and no trace of passion fruit sauce and looked nothing like the picture that advertised it ..... terrible experience won't go again ever! ..... the waitress was lovely I might ad & she in fact was the best thing about the place .

User

We went up to the counter and the state of the food was awful, no stuffing, no peas, no mash! Had to wait 5/10 mins for gravy made our food go cold!! We found long hairs in our food! Won’t be going there again !

User

Visited today (family of 6) as we enjoy your Toby here but it wasn't to be. Your portions of meat were embarrassingly small, I even gave my plate back to the chef and said "I asked for beef too" and he said "its under your yorkie", basically I got half a thin slice of each meat. I work away in the week and eat at many of your Toby Carvery's and this has got to be the worst, especially when you're paying a premium price to eat on a Sunday. Around the floor of the serving area was more food than what was actually being served from the pots.

Your gross profits must be horrendously high or you must be compensating for the amount of food that has been wasted!! Chefs were not the cleanest either especially the one with the beard. Hint.... Chef whites are supposed to be white including your oven cloths. Not the same as the gravy. Very poor standards here! Hope you can turn it around, otherwise, like reading other reviews, you will lose more customers along with us!

User

Visited 1st and last time last Sunday. Table booked and left 45 mins later after still waiting to be seated. Our little girl was hungry and very upset at being made to wait so long. Never ever had this anywhere else we have booked no one even bothered to apologise or let us know why there was such a delay we were just left standing at the bar. Left a review on Web page to which I have not received so much as an acknowledgement that they have even listened let alone an apology. Terrible way to treat customers

User

Those poor staff.

We thought it would be busy so booked a table. When we were seated were were told that there was no turkey left, and a waiter would be with us shortly.

After waiting ten minutes for a waiter I decided to tackle the bar whilst my family went to start getting food. By the time I’d, finally, been served I brought the drinks to the table, my family had finished eating.

I queued for “the buffet” , all that was available were a couple of bones with meat hanging off, potatoes which had seen better days, and some veg which may have had melanomas due to their time under the heat lamp. I will say the Yorkshire’s were nice though.

Whilst there were probably five ,or six staff visible, they were In no way enough to cope with the demand(I would imagine being busy on a sunny, July, Sunday afternoon wasn’t a surprise) , so the available staff all seemed to be sweating and racing round with very little purpose.

I can’t really see the point of offering any sort of starters/deserts, or indeed waiter service, if there can be no organised service/delivery.

Overall, I found this a hideous experience and will not be returning.

User

I'd give them lower if I could. Found a maggot in my food clearly using rotten food. Absolutely disgusting. Reported this and they took it away and gave me everything for free. Avoid this place.
