Yesterday evening I went along and took part in a TFW session as a taster, with a pal who is currently nearing the end of her 8 week course. I have noticed such a positive change in this pal - her energy, her mindset, her overall wellbeing - that I had pretty much already decided that I was saving up for the course.

When we arrived, I took myself off to the loo to change into the leggings and t-shirt I'd hastily shoved in my rucksack. I then used the scissors I'd lobbed in my rucksack to cut the shop tags off the pair of trainers that I'd bought a year ago and never used - and went to sit down with the other women. They were chatting excitedly about 'The board' and what might be written on it. I was nervous, but curious; the other women were lovely and welcoming. Here we go!

The mysterious board turned out to be the exercise schedule for the hour - and after an unexpectedly esoteric and rather wonderful motivational story from Hamish, the coach, we all got stuck into a warm up. I felt self conscious for the odd few seconds here and there in the first few minutes, but the encourage of Hamish and the group was immediate - and I quickly became engrossed in the activity. By the end of the warm up I had broken a sweat and rediscovered for the first time in 5 years some muscle groups. Those muscle group were singing to me loudly. "HIYA! Where have you BEEN?" they cried. I felt exhilarated. I was no longer thinking 'Can I do this?'.

In the zone for 3 sets of exercises, cleverly designed I realised today with my muscles singing to me, to make sure all the major muscle groups (and many minor) get attention - lots of high fives with my team mates. The hour zipped by.

I'm literally walking taller today. I'm so saving up for the course. Then after that I'm getting the annual membership. I lost the confident, fit, strong side of me due to injury, pregnancy, major surgery, massive amounts of personal stress and a whole lot of other stuff besides, but yesterday - that side of me was found again. Thank you to TFW!

Simple. Leggings, t-shirt, trainers, a brilliant coach, a well designed work-out and a handful of self-motivated people. No, no, my eyes aren't misting up. I've got something in my eye, really......

User

Where to start?

I recently completed the 8 week challenge and am now in week 2 of attending the regular group classes, and I bloody love it!

I was already fairly active- spinning, yoga, weight-training, but was finding that I couldn't stick with a particular training programme. So when I saw the 8 week challenge I signed up thinking that it was just the focus I needed and while it was long enough to see progress, it was only 8 weeks to stick with it and see it through to the end IF I really didn't enjoy it. The 8 weeks flew in! In those 8 weeks I have seen strength increases week on week like I have never experienced before, I get through sprints and view them as a welcome challenge rather than something to just get past (or avoid altogether!), I am continually impressed, encouraged and challenged by the rest of the "familia" week in week out and I can't wait to see what's in store for them as well as for myself.

Coach Hamish is always close to offer words off encouragement and support, or to sneakily leave you heavier weights after each round, and he really makes you push yourself. And he does it because he knows you can do it. This is completely different to any "gym" I have been to before- where it only matters how many memberships they get, or on "just getting the reps in" without caring about your form. This is a genuine care for your physical well-being as well as your mental well-being and it comes across with the upmost professionalism and enthusiasm that you just can't help but come back time and time again.

I can't recommend this place enough. If you have been contemplating an 8 week challenge-DO IT!! The worst thing that can happen is you might just surprise yourself!

User

Where do I start! I've tried everything...the gym, Krav Maga, kickboxing, Muay Thai...but nothing comes close. TFW is in a different league! I was skeptical at first but after just a fortnight I was hooked! The coaches are inspiring, empathetic and full of energy and enthusiasm...their positivity and drive literally rubs off on you even when you aren't at the dojo! The strength of a community of women determined to exceed their goals is second to none and the atmosphere really is wonderful. The transformation in everyone over the 8 week challenge has been phenomenal and I'm proud to have been, and continue to be a part of the team. TFW has opened new doors for me and helped me to start fighting 10 years of severe body dismorphia...something I'd began to lose faith in.

Whether you are age 20 or age 50, 10 stone or 20 stone, shy or confident, a fitness fanatic or a complete newbie...it doesn't matter...the coaches and members at TFW will welcome you with open arms and bring out the best in you.

Into the roar...!!!

User

What brought me to TFW was the knowledge that I would be accountable to someone else when it came to training. I'm not new to exercise; I've spent years going to fitness classes and have always loved the feeling of staying healthy. The problem was I was going it alone. As a result, I would inevitably lose interest and start to make excuses; 'I'll go tomorrow', 'I don't have time today', 'I'm feeling quite tired'....you know the drill. The first thing we were told at TFW was: Just show up. Make the commitment to just show up and you've made it through the hardest step. Six months later (and four inches slimmer round my waist!) and I'm still showing up. I’m fitter and stronger than I’ve ever been and surrounded by amazing women who inspire and encourage me at every session. Try telling yourself 'there's no way I can do that' when you have six warrior women and Hamish telling your otherwise! Joining the 8-week challenge was the best decision I could have made; training has challenged me, but it has also made me physically and mentally stronger. I can’t recommend TFW enough. Take a chance and get yourself signed up for the next 8-week programme. Make yourself a promise to just show up, and I promise you won’t regret it.

There's a reason why there are only five star reviews for TFW Edinburgh. There is absolutely NO downside to being a part of this community. Like every other woman I know, I have battled with body issues and self confidence most of my life. I've never been the "skinny one" and I love my food too much to stick to fad diets. I've tried the gym but lacked self motivation to go on a regular basis. A friend of mine signed up for TFW about 9 months ago, and spent the past 9 months trying to convince me to go along and see what it was about. Four weeks ago, I made the decision to do just that. I was so anxious the day of my first visit, I took an anxiety attack at the thought of group exercise, thinking I would embarrass myself and wouldn't be able to keep up. I could not have been more wrong. This community of women, led by Coach Hamish, is encouraging, strong, motivational and inspiring. They believe in you when you don't believe in yourself. I've just come to the end of my 28 day pass, and have signed up for membership. In the past four weeks I have been to training more times than I went to the gym on a year long membership. I've deadlifted 50kg, knee grabbed until i developed bruises, done my first ever full push up on my toes, and lost an inch from my waist and hips. Four weeks ago I couldn't have imagined ANY of those achievements. But the real reason TFW is a success, and why it gets such great reviews is the community Coach Hamish has created. It thrives on success and a positive mind set and even on my down days I know there will always be someone at the dojo to push me, to believe in me, to make me laugh. I really truly encourage anyone who is interested in changing their life and living a healthier, happier, more positive life to sign up and see what you can achieve!

TFW review.

It's probably a bit early for me to be writing a review for TFW as I'm only 2 weeks on what will be a long journey, but I'm going to do one now incase there is someone else like me out there!

Some people started for a photo or so they could drop a dress size but not me! I'd heard it all before and avoided all photos even when the doc said 12 stone it was just a number. What happened to me was I was out with friends and one of them said he had not been well but was back UP to a healthy weight and had just hit 12 stone. I looked at him and he's not a little person!! 6foot plus and a healthy weight and it hit me that I had to cut him off! I made a joke of it and said that I could loose 12 stone easy and just put him out of the car.

I went home that night and filled in the TFW application. When I got the phone call a couple of days later I was terrified! The coaches told me I could do it even if I thought I couldn't. 2 weeks later I got started and I'm not gonna lie it's not easy but every time I get to the point that I think I can't do this coach is right there beside me telling me I can or just one more!

I started behaving my self with my diet on the day of the phone call I'd spent my money so this was the start. Only 4 weeks from that phone call I have dropped from 24 stone 5 to 22, 12. Like I said my journey is going to be long but the physical and emotional support that I have received from coach Hamish has got me started and even when I can't go on he knows that one more step will keep me going!!

User

TFW has changed me in so many ways, I was always too self conscious over my weight to feel comfortable in gyms or classes, I went along feeling very nervous and from day one I was welcomed by the other Warriors with friendly faces and positivity, the coaches are amazing and supportive.

I'm just at the start of my fitness journey but already I can see a huge difference in myself and couldn't have done it without TFW and can't wait to see what the future brings.

Ladies get joining! The ladies and coaches not only become your friends but your familia

User

Signing up for the 8 week challenge was the best decision I ever made. Have absolutely loved the training and really noticed a difference in my fitness and what I can achieve physically. The support from the familia is incredible! The coaches are so passionate and amazing at what they do! I would recommend this to everyone- no matter what your baseline fitness level is.

User

One of the most amazing experience in my life! Huge support from all girls, great coaches and family atmosphere. Who knows, that I will be able to do nearly 30 reps of dead lift on my third training wow😍 Magic place! Highly recommended!

User

I've just finished my initial 8 week programme with TFW. I signed up because I had started suffering from anxiety and panic attacks and knew that exercise would benefit me. I've always enjoyed the gym in the past but I was struggling to get myself to go, always finding excuses. I was a bit concerned that I wouldnt be able to keep up with the others in the group but I needn't have worried.

Hamish immediately put me at ease. The only competition is with yourself and becoming stronger each session.

The classes are a good mix of exercises and it's not about doing lots of reps. Hamish teaches you the correct technique and adapts the sessions to each person, so when I struggled with my shoulder mobility in the initial weeks he adjusted the weights or exercises to suit my needs.

The girls in the group have been incredible. They are a great source of support and it makes it fun to go to the classes. If I didn't have people waiting for me I know I wouldn't go to the gym on my own . I would still be making excuses.

The best thing about the TFW programme is that its actually not hard! Yes you sweat and Hamish pushes you harder than you would push yourself in the gym but it works, you see results and you actually have a laugh too.

I thought I would do the 8 weeks and then get back to my own gym but I've cancelled my gym membership and signed up to more TFW because it's the best decision I've ever made for myself. I feel physically and mentally stronger and that's down to the great work that Hamish does.

User

I've been going to TFW since September and it's been one of the best things I've ever done. For years I would go to the gym 3 or 4 times a week but I never really made any progress or improved my fitness. I can now definitely see the results. TFW isn't just about fitness, it's also about improving your whole life nutrition, mental Heath and setting goals. One of the best parts about TFW is the community of like minded people and making new friends. Everyone encourages each other to do their best and this encouragement helps you to achieve your goals

User

I just started my journey with TFW Edinburgh, but I have to say that the support I've been given and the coaches and all the women i have met have been amazing.

I was ready to quit before I even started and coach Hamish wouldn't let me lol.

He understood how I was feeling, took the time to sit and listen to me and talk to me and make me feel like I CAN DO THIS!!

At my first training session with coach Sarah I was made to feel so welcome and was praised and supported through every moment by Sarah and the other ladies.

After only 1 session I know that this was 100% the right place for me to start my journey back to fitness and back to me.

Thank you Hamish and Sarah and to all if the other ladies that have been so supportive.

I'm happy I didn't quit!!

User

I joined TFW in October and I can honestly say it's been one of the best decisions I've made. I 've never considered myself a "fit" person. I felt self conscious about going to gyms and had pretty low opinion of what I could achieve.

Not only has my fitness level improved dramatically but I can honestly say that I love going to the classes and look forward to seeing the coaches and other members(warriors). The support from each coach and from the warriors is what makes TFW different from any other gym. I always walk away from a session feeling positive and motivated about my own fitness and excited about what we can achieve as a group.

It's fun and has become a big part of my life. You won't regret giving TFW a go:)

User

I am 11 weeks into my training now. It's been an eye opener for me with regards training and mindset. They go hand in hand and they get you results. Constant support from everyone and it makes you want to push yourself even more. Setting smaller goals and reaching them and setting the next goal and reaching that too. It's empowering and an honour to be part of this squad. I am a lot happier within myself and so much fitter too. Gaining confidence and making great friendships along the way. TFW for life

User

Having tampered with all and any of the fad diets and exercise routines over the years, I joined TFW in March thinking it would give me a 8 week kick start to a thinner me. How wrong I was!

I've changed from being an overweight calorie counting martyr to the scales to an infinitely stronger, fitter, healthier and happier person. I am numerous inches smaller, way more toned and on the way to looking how I now feel. I always look forward to my regular training sessions and irrespective of the day had always leave feeling strong, determined and positive. A revelation compared to what I've experienced in the past.

This all comes down to the genuine, caring, positive and ultimately incredible environment that has been built at TFW : along with his trusty sidekicks Coach Hamish is the most supportive and enthusiastic gent out there and is only matched by the truly AMAZING ladies.

This is like nothing you will experience elsewhere. It's not only a game changer, it's a life changer.

User

Having spent most of my adult life dreading exercise, TFW has given me a renewed love of training! I’m happier in both my body and my mind and have found somewhere filled with loads of fun and laughter as well as results. Don’t just skim this page, come and visit!

User

Before I started TFW I wasn't doing any exercise, I was trying to clean up my diet which was going okay but I was crippled by my anxiety disorder and suffering depression which made loosing weight seem impossible. I wouldn't go out by myself, I wouldn't use public transport, I'd take panic attacks and I'd put myself down and be negative about myself. One day my mum decided enough was enough and got me a spot in an 8 week challenge. I was terrified, I didn't want to go, I thought I'd make a fool of myself or something. I was so wrong! My teammates were all so lovely and supportive through out. After finishing I had lost about 9lbs and 8.5 inches off my waist and hips and and above all felt so much better! I was getting the train to Edinburgh 3 times a week by myself, I will go out walking now and can't remember the last time I had and panic attack! I am so much more positive and upbeat. Physically and mentally everything has improved. I have continued on with TFW and don't plan on stopping, I am now a stone down and focused on toning up and getting strong. If you're scared or feel like you can't do it, just go for it don't think about negatives and just go, it has changed my life, can't thank them enough. I am in a totally different mindset now and it feels fab!

User

At the end of my 8 week challenge I cannot recommend TFW enough! I have always been a member of a gym, doing mostly spin, body pump and combat classes. I always enjoyed them and went intermittently but didn't really get any periods of consistency, there would always be distractions that would be the perfect excuses to let it slip. I had no idea what to expect from TFW. With the thought of being a bridesmaid to my best friends in 2 months and again in 4 months and then being a bride myself in a years time I wanted a new approach to getting into shape knowing that I hadn't the results I so desired with anything else. It was easy to sign up and the first induction was really welcoming. TFW works. It works on so many levels: improves fitness, builds strength, helps weight loss but also improves positivity, encourages mindfulness and is really sociable! I think the accountability is the biggest thing for me. I really want to show up 3-4 times a week to see everyone and know that coach would be asking questions if I let things slip. As someone who works shifts for the NHS I love that TFW is flexible and can definitely become part of a normal week. The sessions are different every time so its keep you interested and on your toes. Everyone is really friendly, at all different levels of fitness but all very encouraging. People are genuine and all there for the same reasons. I have surprised myself at the end of the 8 weeks on lots of things... Firstly going 3 (sometimes 4) times a week for 8 weeks and not feeling like I had to sacrifice family/friends or work or having fun. Secondly I have improved on things I wouldn't have even attempted before like burpees, press ups, deadlifts! I have lost a stone on the scales but better than that I have changed shape and hearing my mum comment on "my shrinking waist" and my fiancé commenting on my bum beats anything the scales can tell you!! Thirdly, I am enjoying getting fit and loving the positive mental attitude ethos that comes with TFW. It way seem cheesy, cringy or even pretentious to some but it's really not. TFW teaches you a lot about your attitude to health, life and getting the most out of everything you do. Coach Hamish is one of the most positive people I've ever met but in a really inspiring way rather than being annoying or pressurising. He pushes you and really gets you to focus without feeling like you are in the military or at school!!

To summarise (because I could go on!) TFW is fun, friendly and most importantly is getting me results cause let's face it that's what I wanted when I started!! If you are even remotely considering it then join! Do the 8 week challenge and see where that takes you. You won't regret it!!

User

At 44, myself and exercise were far from friends. At 44, I was overweight but slowly chipping away with weight loss. At 44, I found myself single again......So it was work time/wine time/sofa time...you get the picture!

About 7 weeks ago I stumbled across a TFW post about the Warrior Challenge. My initial thought was to ignore it...but then I did what you are doing now - I read the reviews and I decided I wanted that for me. I wanted to take control of my life again, prove to myself I could do it but more importantly prove to myself I was worth it.

Tomorrow’s practice is the end of week 4 and I am totally loving it. Being surrounded by such like minded, motivated women is inspiring me every day. Coach Hamish is awesome, his enthusiasm and determination is infectious. I’m not going to pretend it’s easy, far from it, but with every practice I see improvement....and I am getting such a buzz out of that. I'm still fighting my demons ( you know those voices that tell you you just can't do it) but they are getting weaker as I become stronger, both physically and mentally.

So if you are reading this, please do something positive for yourself...take control and commit to a better you. You won’t regret it.....I certainly haven’t.

Having spent most of my adult life dreading exercise, TFW has given me a renewed love of training! I’m happier in both my body and my mind and have found somewhere filled with loads of fun and laughter as well as results. Don’t just skim this page, come and visit!

One of the most amazing experience in my life! Huge support from all girls, great coaches and family atmosphere. Who knows, that I will be able to do nearly 30 reps of dead lift on my third training wow😍 Magic place! Highly recommended!

Having spent most of my adult life dreading exercise, TFW has given me a renewed love of training! I’m happier in both my body and my mind and have found somewhere filled with loads of fun and laughter as well as results. Don’t just skim this page, come and visit!
