Happy New Year folks, it's cold and damp in the garage (Not a good combination for hardwoods) hence not many posts recently.
Having said that I wanted to show you all a test piece I'm designing, it's a solid Oak stacked text name / initial plaque.

Back from holiday and back to woodworking...just completed this commission piece made out of contrasting Oak and Ash...

Project complete, new hinges and clasp really finish them off....

This is what I have been working on this bank holiday weekend....this trinket box is made with Oak sides and Ash lid and base - the grain formation is extremely unusual and the first time I have ever come across it. I have enough wood left from this one piece of Ash for hopefully 4 boxes which will be made available as/when I build them - stay tuned if you're interested.

Next door neighbour will be receiving this box with his regimental crest carved and epoxied into the lid later today. He rumbled me making it yesterday and is already over the moon with it....should be ideal for his memorabilia...the carving is the national symbol of Poland.
