Tushinde Description
THE PROJECT: Tushinde matches donors with children who live in the Mathare slums in Nairobi. Often these children have lost one or both of their parents to HIV and are being brought up by relatives or neighbours. The sponsorship covers school fees at one of the local schools including a school lunch or breakfastl. In addition, a regular 'child allowance' is paid to parent /s or kinship carers for school uniform and food at home.
Megan, our Kenyan based trustee, has developed this project in Nairobi with help from Laurie Bidwell, Clare Wright and Andrew Wright and other volunteers in the UK, the charity Tushinde was formed with the aim of supporting the education and nutrition of children and other related projects.
