For some time I've been trying to acquire a book of the history of St Andrews - all of it not just the golf course as it goes back to Roman times therefore is of interest to me. Being there made me keener to learn more of this wonderful place. Can anyone help me with this ? Like who built the Swilcan bridge & when ? I live in Australia so getting there to make inquiries is a little difficult.

Miserable place to spend 4 years, bad weather, bad food, the locals hate the students. Town consists of 3 streets, with nothing to do for students. Train is miles away so you are trapped there. Heavy drinking in this miserable place, encouraged by the university staff and faculty. Suicides high, no surprise in this environment. Horrible if you have any dignity or morals. Lecturers are mediocre at best, go anywhere else.

I spent a month her in the summer of 1973. I stayed on campus and enjoyed my entire time here. I took several classes, and learned so much. Loved the golf course restaurant. Loved the town and people

Look at the obnoxious comments below of John Jones. This is the pompous attitude of many students at this university. Pompous, condescending, arrogant and worthless. It is a school that should be avoided, there is a high number of students at St Andrews who have committed suicide or died of illnesses because of their unhealthily university accommodations. Bad weather, very little sun, mold and damp and foul smells everywhere, and nothing to do in the three block town, in the middle of nowhere, pompous lecturers, small library, not enough student study spaces, all true. Why come here? It is miserable. Heed my warning, and avoid this dreadful place.

Loved my time at the University and love this town

Went to this place as part of Eastern Scotland Tour. Nice Uni town with plenty of history. Of course, the famous St Andrews golf course is not far from the town.
