Thought for the Day Stephen Covey was an educator and author of the best-selling book - ' 7 Habits of Highly Effective People', 1989. He presented his teachings as a series of habits which manifest as a progression from dependence to independence to interdependence. He died as a result of a bicycle accident in 2012 at the age of 79 but is still widely read and quoted. Photo: Language students at the CLL

Memory isn’t as consistent as we’d like to believe. Remembering is an act of storytelling. And our memories are only ever as reliable as the most recent story we told ourselves. Read the article of psychology lecturer Robert Nash.

The words you use matter Be aware of the way you label yourself. Try making statements that indicate you feel you are engaged in a process. Instead of “I am not really very good” say “I'm working on my awareness and knowledge, and really enjoying it.” The former is demotivating, while the latter leads you on to new levels of understanding, pleasure and achievement. Time for change How different is your life, right now, from where you were 12 months ago? If it’s quite similar, then you haven’t been learning very much. To learn, by nature, is to change and evolve. In order to do this, you need to regularly create peak experiences — moments that create awe, gratitude, and a shift in how you see yourself and the world. Read the article below.

It seems that the centre for life long learning at University of Strathclyde is providing very valuable and worthwhile courses to mature students. Val bissland teaches overthere . The interview on Happiness and wellbeing from Val bissland was very interesting on Awaz FM 107.2 with Aaj Kal with Manjulika on Wednesday 24th August 16

You can listen to it again and again! !

Are there any plans to introduce on-line enrolment for courses?

Seems a bit backwards that this still isn't in place.
