There are a couple of crew spots open for the broadcast of the St. Mirren game tonight in Paisley. Should be of particular interest to broadcast production students but anyone interested would be welcome to come along.

Attention all students, in particular MA groups. The IT guys need to clear the computers in the labs for new installs. If you have any work on those computers you need to keep make sure to come in and take a copy ASAP. MA students with current projects, get in touch and we will provide instructions for the plan we have in place. The computers will be cleared by the end of July.

Music students: This is a very interesting Virtual Instrument. We have it installed in each of the studios so it is worth taking a look at the tutorial and getting prepared to explore it!

So I’m cleaning up the TV Studios and discovered a few things but chief amongst them is the whereabouts of the long shotgun mic that belongs to the large mic stand in TV1.
The mic I found on it was an MKE600 from the store.
... Does anyone know where this mic is as it’s not supposed to leave the studio at all.

A bit of personal interest crossover from Keith today but, this 36 minute film is a real treat. Amazing scenery, lots of complex production logistics, quality editing and footage. Audio is great too! For those of you interested in making non-fiction films it is well worth checking out. Showcase time again: Commercial Music event is on the 30th of May at St Luke's in Glasgow. Always a great night with performance, partying and entertainment. We have been asked to do some filming and could do with a volunteer or two on the night to help cover the showcase itself, and some interviews before/after. It will probably be filmed on ARRI so if that is something that appeals get in touch. I'll try and arrange some food/drink rewards too! Attention All: Anyone trying to book kit or studios today may notice that the system is refusing to allow bookings & giving a message about 'longer than 2 days' or similar. This is due to us effectively closing the store for the summer. There will be some service available for students needing to re-submit or MA activity. However, with there only being Gareth & Keith from now, and a lot of work to be done in the studios etc we can't guarantee we will be in the office or store. If you feel you really need us or kit contact us directly. MA students - a schedule will be proposed for you ASAP.

Hi everyone,
We need to remind everyone that pickup/drop-off times MUST be adhered to. If that time is going to change, you have to let us know in a timely manner.
If your shoot gets postponed, the equipment bookings you made should be the very first thing you cancel.
... It's not fair on other students, and most importantly, is terrible professional practice.
Some of these bookings are for equipment totalling £500-£900/day rental costs in the real world and cancellations made after your pickup time would result in either a charge for the booking or, possibly, not being allowed to make another one. Worse if it isn't returned on time, with no contact.
So lets try and be more organised. We're working hard to try and make sure everyone has access to the best equipment available to them, so don't squander the chance when you get it.

Now I am sure there will be some of you that instantly dismiss this - the very nature of football as a subject in Scotland.....but, please see it for what it really is. This is a short documentary piece on a young man that has come to Scotland, a film created almost entirely by UWS graduates from Broadcast Production, Commercial Music and MA Music. The main man is of course our greatly missed former Studio Team member Jamie Hare. Well done Jamie and everyone else, the BBC is already picking up on the material in their Sports news today.
