This little deli/cafe is an unsung jewel in the Crown of Edinburgh coffee shop culture friendly staff relaxed and welcoming atmosphere.....so far removed from the get them in get them out regime of the multi national coffee shops that clutter our high streets.
The sign of a great place is the way they react to mistakes. Bit of a misunderstanding with our order was handled amazingly. As usual the food and coffee were 1st class. This is why this place is an Edinburgh institution. Thanks guys.
Service here is impeccable. I went in for lunch and even though it was busy we were greeted with a warm welcome. the staff were fantastic and the food was incredible. I love what the refurb has done and I can't wait to go back.
Please come and try the tea in this shop! It's real Chinese Oolong!
Myself husband and son who is living at the sick kids hospital and have been for over 10 weeks have had great service and delicious food can't fault the service they always make sure my son has room as he is in a wheelchair and always ask how we are. Thank you so much and our custom will continue. Xx
I took my Grandson for breakfast, he has just had a Spinal Operation in the Sick Children's, and came out for a treat, the staff at Victor's were 1st class & even put us in a lovely private room, the food was delicious,as was the Coffee, will definitely pay a return visit next time I'm in Edinburgh
I had the most delicious eggs benedict roll ¤ŹĮŌśĢ’ĖÅMmm mmm I will be back soon for another. Coffee was nice too, and the little sweet pastries. Very good ¤śŖ
Great coffee, very good service.
Fantastic place to stop in for a bite to eat. Great selection of choices on the menu and with friendly and welcoming service. Will definitely be back soon.
Every time I go in the staff are always welcoming & friendly, I especially love the soups they make & the variety of fillings in the sandwiches or baguettes , in fact I love everything they make & sell & they make really good coffee based drinks - the beans they use make the espresso delicious!!!!
Called into Victors on the way back to Princes Street after walking up Arthur's Seat etc . Amazing continental feeling , staff were amazing , and the food well what can I say .......I run a coffee shop / cafe back in Yorkshire and well the pastrami sandwich here is definitely a WOW ’┐Į. It was absolutely stunning , highly recommend . Will definitely be coming back when we come back to Edinburgh
Beautiful fresh ingredients served with a smile.
There is a huge selection of sandwiches and homemade cakes.
Staff are very good.
Amazing food and coffee, staff extremely friendly and helpful. They got tables outside so you can enjoy lunch with meadows view or sit inside cosy coffee shop :)
Always a lovely treat for us when we're in the area and the only place we consider stopping at for coffee and cake.
Visited multiples times over the past few weeks when my son was in a nearby hospital. For breakfast, lunch, or just a coffee and cake I always found the service to be attentive and the products to be fresh and of a high quality.
Looking forward to visiting again when my son is fully fit and bringing him in for some waffles with maple syrup :)
Vegetable lasagna was delicious but the smallest portion ever and still ┬Ż6.50!! Couldnt believe it! And that was only to take away. We are local and go there a lot. Good coffee and food but service has been terrible on every occasion. Real shame as its the only cafe nearby and it could really be amazing but they arent quite there yet. Been going for 10 years each time hoping it has improved. Good food, bad service.
Food was OK but I had the frittata and it was definitely not made fresh and was reheated from the fridge and subsequently was too hard/overcooked to eat. Portion was small too. Bit disappointing but the others in the party were happy thankfully as I booked it!
We wanted to sit and have a coffee today outside with our dogs, but couldn't because despite having plenty of staff milling about, customers have to stand in a long queue inside to order from single till point. Seems daft not to do table orders?
My first visit to Victor Hugo and it will most certainly be my last. I ordered a Cheese and Ham toastie to take away. The girl that served me looked totally fed up, we then waited near enough 20 minutes to receive our toastie. We finally got our toastie and took them back to work to eat. Upon opening this we found a toasted bread roll with some barely melted cheese and some hame in it... It was beyond a joke... and considering I paid ┬Ż4.60 for this I was completely disappointed. Not good service at all. ’┐Į
