💬 "One of the most important things about this job is building relationships with people, so I need to have an understanding of when someone is ready to engage and is open to a chat – and even a bit of banter! Even more important when it comes to building relationships though is knowing when it’s time to say a quick ‘hello’ and move on."
📖 Read about the work of our HIV Street Support Team in the second blog of our 'Day in the Life' series.
A big thank you to The National Lottery Community Fund for funding the work of our HIV Street Support Team. ❤️

💬 "I learned that mental health is so strongly connected with HIV, with the stigmatisation, rejection and all these things. What I can say is we need more of these conversations in our communities. I am the vice chair of a local community group and I definitely want to hear more of these conversations and I can’t thank Waverley Care enough for the work they are doing. For someone, that can make the difference between life and death, knowing that there’s someone who can offer support in such a distressful situation is phenomenal.” – Community Member
During April, our African Health Project Worker Bibiana was out raising awareness of HIV, sexual health and mental health with Faith Leaders and community members in Forth Valley. 🗣
Check out our blog to read what community members had to say about the sessions.👇

We've been working in partnership with HMP Low Moss to make testing and support accessible for prisoners. 🤝
With almost 1 in 5 people in Scottish prisons diagnosed with hepatitis C, the initiative has been hugely successful with an additional 316 people referred for blood-borne virus testing as a direct result of this collaborative work. We've also been able to support people to start treatment while they're in HMP Low Moss, through to liberation and beyond. ✅
Read all about... this new initiative on our website, along with the story of James, who has been supported by our Prison Link Service. 👇
Thanks to AbbVie for funding this work. Through AbbVie's support, we can continue increasing testing and treatment for hepatitis C in Scottish prisons alongside helping prevent new infections.
