Reviews
WCF customers Millie and Ellie Ritchie from Dunning, Perthshire love our seed potatoes as much as we do #potatopassion.
The first harvesting of the Mr Jazzy potato competition as set up by RHET Perth & Kinross CI and sponsored by us here at WCF-Horticulture.
This superb entry is from Morrisons Academy in Crieff Primarys 1, 2 and Nursery. From two Jazzy tubers they harvested 1.4kg of potatoes. An entry which I'm sure will be difficult to beat!
The real facts from our friends at Albert Bartlett, that disprove the latest fake news 😉
Our Jazzy plant is now 4 weeks old and as you can see in the blazing Scottish sun, it has now hit its rapid growth stage.
As pictured, hooking has begun which is the beginning of tuber initiation. We expect to see (albeit very small!) our first tuber in around 2 weeks time.
Some updated pictures of our Jazzy potatoes we posted last week inside the 2 pots in one.
The recent excellent weather has accelerated the growth of our Jazzys and we are looking forward to seeing how many tubers we will get from just this one seed potato.
Our current guess is 30-40, how many do you think ?
How is everyone's planting going ? 🥔🥔🥔
Here at WCF we were a little late to the party this year in our own trial work, but as you can see our Jazzy potatoes planted just 2 weeks ago are already starting to show!
We have planted our Jazzy in this superb 2 pots in 1 potato pot! As you can see the inner pot can be lifted out as a frame revealing what is happening beneath the soil and in time should hopefully let us see how many tubers we will be harvesting !
Potato scouts we need you ! An excellent article in last week's Perthshire Courier on AHDBs fight against blight starring WCF-Horticultures own Heather Hughes. The AHDB along with WCF-Horticulture are calling upon all seed potato lovers and growers to be on the lookout for any sign of blight and to report it when found.
