West End Garage Skoda

We went here because we needed a replacement car fairly urgently. At first the car salesman did not seem to believe we meant business and actually wasn’t keen to organise a test drive. Once he realised we were serious things were fine and we were happy with the service. We are also happy now with our new car.

I'm only dealing with the garage service aspect of the place. The situation is ongoing but I am very unhappy at the moment.

I handed my car in because the central locking was broken. The car kept locking and unlocking itself, flashing the lights every time, meaning I couldn't leave it anywhere safely, as it announces to the world that it's unlocked. This is a big deal!

I got a phone call confirming what the issue was. All good so far.

Then today I received a text with a link to a video made by the guy working on my car, Donn, in which he states that some of my tyres are a little worn but otherwise the car is fine. Excuse me?

So let's just assume the car stopped locking and unlocking itself, and there's nothing visibly wrong with it at the moment. I specifically handed it in because of that issue, and they DID NOT EVEN BOTHER TO LOOK INTO IT. The chances are, this will happen again, meaning I will be unable to safely leave my car anywhere, as it could start unlocking itself again.

And I'm supposed to pay for that?!

So far, very unimpressed, and sadly unsurprised as I have been warned against that particular place. I will update this review after any further developments. I'm calling first thing tomorrow to see if this can be solved somehow.

Well i made a purchase of a new Octavia so they must have done something right! Really helpful salesman Ian right balance not pushy and even presented us with a bouquet of flowers when we drove off.

Can't comment on the car sales side but the service team are criminal. They perform a 'complementary' diagnostic tests that seems to always detect issues they advise need immediate attention and charge a premium for. For example, they said the brakes on my car were 80% worn and front discs corroded. However, none of the brake pad warning lights (which the car has sensors for on every wheel) have illuminated and 6 months later (and a decent mileage) the car passed its MOT (different garage) without any brake work required/recommended. They also stated there were 2 broken suspension coils, got this checked by different garage who replaced one, at a much cheaper rate, and did not see any others needing work. Meanwhile, it took 3 visits to Skoda (with massive invoices) to actually detect and fix the issue the car was actually originally booked in for.... AVOID!!!

We've bought our cars from West End Skoda for years (back when they were in Uphall) and stuck with them when they moved to their new showroom in Sighthill. We've always had great service from them and would recommend West End Skoda to anyone.
The staff are great and we've never had any cause for complaint.
