Tonight we are back at our new improved centre for our first support meeting @ 6.30 since reopening. Opened to all members and non members. Come have a chat, cuppa, look at the centre and a breather guys. π
The last few weeks have been hard work for us but we got there. On Saturday we held our grand reopening of the West of Scotland Autism & Aspergers Centre. It was an amazing night and we was joined by special guest Anna Kennedy OBE. The night was a great success, with Sophie Peters winning the VOLAAF young achiever of the year. Well done everyone involved and thank you to everyone that came along.
I don't watch the news as my autistic son has his cartoons and the news is so depressing. I'm disgusted with hearing this but not shocked as I have personally been told to take my son out of a school by a head teacher that he was regularly visiting with other nursery friends to help him understand better when he starts school in August without knowing at the time where he would be placed. π π π
Following on from the news that a school banned a child with autism participating in... a school trip I feel the need to write this. There are boys and girls that nobody invites to birthdays for example. There are kids who want to belong to a team but don't get selected because it is more important to win than include these children. Children with special needs are not rare or strange, they only want what everyone else wants: to be accepted !! Can I ask a question? Is there anyone willing to copy and paste this post to their wall without sharing it Thank you.
