1 Star Because - My step sister has been a Nurse in Edinburgh Royal Infirmary Hospital High Dependency unit / Ward 7 For over 21 year's ... (Now she is teaching nursing) They have 2 Children that were born through many failed attempts of Private IVF Treatment - Genetics Study IVF Babies Face Health Problems Later in Life.

My Ex-girlfriend was pregnant and lost the baby... And my step sister shouted to both of us...
AT LEAST IT WASN'T ME THAT LOST A BABY !!!

When my dad passed away with pancreatic cancer in 2013 my step sister was laughing and danced going into the last ambulance he left in after many failed attempts of chemotherapy.

You have to die to support your NHS... At the cost of human life's to run there expensive hospital machines and equipment + Staff Wages...So that they can live in there deluxe luxury million pound mansion pads and drive there luxury sports cars and live there luxury lifestyles...

It doesn't matter how big your house or your car is at the end of the day our graves are all the same size...... Stay Humble.

Nurses and receptionist was lovely! Couldn't fault them however St. John's hospital is still the place j prefer to go in regards to my op

Nursing staff nice , receptionist could be more polite , when I was waiting all they seemed interested in was how there holiday went kept waiting to book in for ten minutes was only person at desk , car parking is a shambles no spaces even first thing in the morning seen loads people parking and not even going into hospital , signage could be more clear seen a few people asking staff how to get to where they were going .

The staff and quality of service at this hospital are both very good.
The 3 star rating is given to highlight the confusing nature of the campus. The signage is not clear and the inside of the hospital is difficult to navigate.

Great Hospital, easy to get around and the staff who are caring for my wife have been fantastic. very considerate and caring and always able to take a wee bit of time to answer questions. I read Spencer Healey's negative review and found it appalling and crass, he should be ashamed of himself, clearly has no comprehension on how a very large organisation works and the pressures they are under, including the Switchboard.

In general cold rude and secretive staff.. They won't tell me information about my mum cause I'm not her next of kin.. Sick really I'm her daughter.. Working in such a sensitive place requires some compassion which some staff don't have. There is some nice staff but not many beware.. I'm sure they do a good job for the patients but for visitors I feel like I'm a stranger to my mum the way they treat me

This is based on wards I have been treated on and visited. The care is variable.. unfortunately some are dedicated and actually care for and about the patients.. others should have gone for a job that doesn't go near people. The odd rotten apple or experience ruins it for everyone and tars the staff and worst of all could be lethal. I spotted things slap dash with a relatives care.. the curtain was pulled over.. i made sure nurse heard what I said.. she whipped her head round the curtain and started explaining things the patient should have been informed of and had help with. Very clear she knew what should've been happening. Complaints were made.. to make them aware rather than to point blame.. to improve things. Some wards are a tight ship and run according to protocols and policies.. the vast majority of staff have been friendly and helpful. Care that I have received has been extremely good on the whole. There are coloured lines to follow to find your way and maps and the initials of building names every little while on the coloured line...make sure you know building name first, then locate department once there. There is main help desks if you get lost and always staff walking about. There is a canteen if you are hungry and little WRVS shops but beware of prices. There is also a seperate coffee shop. Plenty of toilets accesible to all scattered all over the building. Parking at DCN Department of Clinical Neurosciences, enter from Telford Road or off Crewe Road South heading towards Oncology Department is usually less busy and visiting at night tends to be busier than in the afternoon. Lothian 38 bus will take you in and many more go along Crewe Road South and Telford Road. The staff on the whole work long hard hours and are there to help.

This was my second visit. The first nine years ago, for spinal surgery, and everything was fine. Not so this visit. I arrived to be told that my appointment had been cancelled, as Specialist had had to carry out emergency surgery. I was told they had tried to phone me all morning, (Lies, I was in all morning) and was given a card with the secretary's phone number on. I asked if I could just speak to her, as when you phone it just goes to voice mail. All the while, other people where coming in, and being told the same, and they all said no you did not phone! ( I checked when I got home, and they had only phoned once, at 1.30) To get things in perspective, this was the third time in nine months that appointments had bee cancelled, all at the last minute. Firstly, spinal surgery, then scans, now this one. Much to my surprise then, the nurse came back and said he'll see you now! Yes, he WAS there. ( my appt was for 2.30) I suspect that after the supposed surgery, he had decided he couldn't be bothered with the clinic!
I was seen for all of five minutes, and was discouraged from asking anything at all about the serious condition that had bee diagnosed.
