Dogs and cats love to dig about in the soil where there can be roundworm eggs. Your pet can end up swallowing them as they dig. This is why treating your pet regularly against worms is important as roundworms can be ingested anywhere. Speak to us about the treatments available for you.

This is Koby.
He is a male NEUTERED labrador and has a body condition score of 5/9 (which basically means he is super fit!) - he could be a model with a waist like that!
This shows that neutering doesn't need to mean weight gain. He was in for his vaccination recently and Team Westport LOVE seeing super fit dogs in for their check ups!

Meet super happy Cockapoo puppy Rhu! She was in for her check-up with the nurse and behaved Pawfectly!
Regular check-ups throughout your puppy's development allow the Veterinary team to monitor their growth and progress! These appointments also help to build your puppy's confidence for examinations and future visits to the practice!

Meet Cooper the Labradoodle pup! He was very chilled out wee dude for his exam with the nurse and is getting on great!
The Labradoodle became known in 1988 when Australian breeder Wally Conron crossed a Labrador Retriever and Standard Poodle at the Royal Guide Dogs Associations of Australia in Victoria.
His aim with this combination was to combine the low-shedding coat of the Poodle with the gentleness and trainability of a Labrador to provide a guide dog suitable for people... with allergies to fur and dander.
A Dog from this first litter, called 'Sultan' displayed all the qualities Conron was looking to provide and worked as a guide dog for a woman in Hawii for ten years!

Happy holidays Pepe!!!
Pepe is off to France for his summer break. And it's well deserved. Old Pepe (he's 18 years old in just over a month) had major dental work at the start of the month. He has made a brilliant recovery and is back to his usual happy (although toothless....) self.
Have a great time Pepe!

Very young, old or debilitated animals are at most risk from parasites and one of these include biting lice. These wingless insects can make cats and dogs intensely itchy, to the point where they damage their own skin from scratching. Biting lice can be prevented with a regular treatment, so speak to us for more information.

King Charles Cavalier puppy Angus is a very confident wee pup who did great at his check-up with the nurse!
He's been having great fun recently, building friendships with a Labrador pup who's also a Guide Dog in training and his new Cocker Spaniel chum!

Myxomatosis?

If your pet has ever had ear mites, you may have wondered where they got them from. Usually it is from another infected pet as these little parasites can easily pass from one to another and are common in puppies and kittens. Because constant re-infestation can be a problem, if one pet in your home is diagnosed with ear mites, then all should be treated.

Thank you all for the care you have given to 6 generations of my dogs. everyone of the staff greet you with smiles and take care of your needs. I have found great support when I have had to say goodbye to one or other of my Skyes, and wonderful help when new litters are born.

User

Superb service! My little dog needed attention and although the Clinic didn't have an available appointment, they managed to see her - as they did with another little dog who had turned up too. The staff are very friendly, explaining what they are doing and why. In particular, they have a kind, caring manner towards the animals. I found the Vet to be very thorough in his examination of Milli, clearly explaining the treatment options available, long term solutions etc., which I really appreciated. Nothing seemed like too much trouble - well done, everyone! Great staff, great service

User

Such an amazing veterinary clinic. Staff are so friendly, caring and do so much for all animals and help put owners at ease. I have had lots of loving pets myself, and all have been registered within this clinic. I'd like to thank all the staff for their help from myself, family and our pets. When my family & I lost our gorgeous collie Jake due to cancer, the staff were fantastic. Letting my boy be at home whilst they helped let him go peacefully. The staff also came a day or two afterwards to see how my family were getting on. I am forever grateful and I'd like to say a big thank you to Myra & the rest of the staff for everything you have done for us and are still helping when needed. Thank you.

User

I would like to take the time to thank all the staff for the love and care they have shown Millie our precious Bichon who we sadly had to say goodbye to yesterday. I have hd many trips to Westport Vets over the years with both my Bichons.

I will tell you a story from the beginning.

We brought our lovely wee Millie back to our home in April 2005 in fact on my birthday the 24th of April.

My daughter and I had just returned from a holiday in Australia to visit my brother after the death of my father the year before. I felt a huge void when my Dad left this world and Millie came along.

User

Huge thanks to Westport vets and behind the scenes staff for helping get me back home, ready to continue my reign!

Your calm - reassuring - professionalism and genuinely friendly service to both myself and my accompanying humans, was first class.

Thanks

Monty

Excellent service all round. My Maine Coon, Fingal, was treated for cancer recently and the care he received was second to none! He may only have one eye following his surgery but his wonderful, cheeky character remains! My other kitties also receive royal treatment when visiting! Cannot praise you all highly enough! Thank you so, so much! x

User

Can't thank Stuart and all the other members of staff enough. Our wee King Charles Cavailer was knocked down in December , getting run over at his back end, he suffered some serious injurys. Stuart and the team done everything to settle us and make Buster better, and after an operation Buster is on the mend. A few weeks house rest and Buster has just been back for his check up and he is back to his old self. Can't thank you guys enough taking time to explain everything to us nothing was too much bother . Thanks again guys x

User

Both my 6 year old Malamute and my 3 year old Malamute have been through a tough couple of months. Sura my eldest to get a mass removed from her elbow and Loki my youngest has all sorts of problems ranging from an infection in his gut, pancreatitis and now an infection in his anal gland. That said, this vet practice are absolutely amazing. The nurses and receptionist couldn't be any nicer and are so considerate of my dogs. My eldest is reactive towards other dogs so they find a way that minimizes her to contact with any other dogs when visiting. Loki on the other hand loves his cuddles. I have to say the vets are outstanding with Stuart in particular who is my go to guy whenever i have a problem. Amazing staff, amazing practice. Can't recommend them enough and glad i swapped vet practices.

User

Been a client here for years , always had fantastic service and advice, me and my family would never dream of changing our vets.
