Another great review and start to the week!! Thank you <3

User

Please note we will not be open today as we’re taking our staff out for Christmas dinner to say thank you for all their hard work! Sorry for any inconvenience, we hope you understand.

We went here this evening ( Fareham branch )for my dad's birthday, my dad is coeliac and needed gluten free fish, which was lovely. Staff were wonderful, putting tables together for us to all sit together, younger children were given free jelly and ice cream for eating all their dinner and the staff were really friendly and polite, even singing happy birthday to my dad, highly recommended

We dropped in to Westbourne as a large group and Emma & Jack couldn't do enough for us to make sure we enjoyed our meal. Everyone got what they ordered and we got to try a few extra treats. Pie was nicely cooked, as were the chips, but above all we were impressed with the very friendly service. The locals seem to love it too as there was a steady stream for a small village on a Sunday evening.

User

Visited the Hayling Island Branch yesterday and boy were the fish and chips good!

I have to follow a gluten free diet, and they catered for me beautifully. Amazing service even more amazing food!

The only best chip shop in Fareham

Not only are the prices affordable including for the OAPs and those who are on Benefits, the textures, flavours, portion sizes, cleanliness, and the staff are excellent.

When I last visited here on 4/4/2016, the staff acknowledged my presence, and I politely asked them if they could cook me a " Double Cheese & Bacon Burger" and when I was served the meal, the portion size and and flavour was absolute perfection.

If you are in Fareham, don't just walk past this chip shop, I can guarantee you that the food is " Foodielicious".

User

The Fareham branch does superb gluten free fish and chips, really would not know the difference. Excellent food and great knowledgeable staff. Definite 5 stars deserved

User

Probably the best fish and chips in west sussex or east hampshire. We travel 10 miles each way for them

User

Not only the best fish and chips (still) in the south but the staff are awesome!

15 of us piled in at once to get food Emma and Jack weren't fazed at all, took time to make the food, make us laugh and even do some experimental cooking!

Seriously, love this place !!

User

My favourite gluten-free fish & chips. We regularly travel from Chichester to enjoy the succulent fish and crispy batter - yum!

Hayling Island Camera Club had a fish & chip quiz night this evening ,where Whistlers chip shop in West Town Hayling Island provided my members with 45 portions, the staff there were so helpful having it just about ready when we turned up, it was loaded into boxes and one member of staff helped us into the car with it, we got it back to the hall where it was piping hot and all members thoroughly enjoyed there meal, so as President of the club I would like to say a huge “ thank you “ for being so efficient.

User

A most excellent chippery. Much time is spent in the preparation, we don't know what they cook in but it gives a lovely result.

They also do forces discount for all those men & women who have served.

I wonder if Tim Peake will take advantage of this on Thursday when he visit's Westbourne.

Visited westbourne branch at 1245 yesterday afternoon I ordered a large chips and 2 kids sausage meals was still waiting for it at 1310pm, they only had one cooking and one serving so if your food was ready you had to wait until he served the people in the shop!! He bagged the large chips up and then went on to serve 3 more people which reluted in lukewarm chips , we had waited so long that I did not want to wait for hot chips, it took so long to cook 2 kids sausages when I could have cooked it quicker at home, portions are very small and the drinks in the kids meals were out of date!!! June 16 only 2 days but shouldn't be giving these out. I only found this out once we got home. Safe to say I will not be going back there again .

Visited 18/5/18 tea time - Hayling.

Really disappointed with the chips tonight and FB asked for a review so... They seem a bit variable but tonight they were very dark and overdone (crunchy but not in a nice way) with a battered sausage dripping in fat - sadly almost threw them out. Slow, even at quiet times, but with cheery service. Unfortunately I’ll be trying elsewhere next week.

I went to the Wesrbourne one today we ordered 3 bags of chips / 3 haddock and 2 fully loaded 1/4 lb cheese beef burger's without salt or vinegar .

Even with him taking your order getting it wrong correcting it he still got it wrong.

As what we got given was 2 bags of chips / a haddock and chips / 2 haddock and 2 plain cheese burgers. When we said that was not what we ordered ( did not find out about the burgers until later.) He said chips had to go with the fish. If so why did he only do it to one lot?. Then we also found that one lot of the chips had been salted. We asked for no salt or vinegar. A lot of the chips were also green even a few purple not nice.

Very unhappy with the food and service.

Just got a small cod and chips and large cod and chips from Westbourne, not been in there since it was owned by the lovely couple with old cars years ago and I have to say I certainly wont be going back. The large cod was same size as small cod and as for the chips, well they were small hard crunchy and not nice at all. Very disappointed as used to be best fish and chips around. Last time we ever go there and waste money. Vile
