Impact of Covid-19
As we are sure you are all very aware, all aspects of our everyday lives are being impacted by the coronavirus outbreak and cricket is no different.
We know many of you have already seen the edict from the ECB issued on 18th March.... https://www.staffordshirecricket.co.uk/ŌĆ ”/latestŌĆ”/ecb-covid19
In conjunction with the other West Midlands leagues , the Staffs County League issued a statement on 21st March, which reiterated the above. The ECBŌĆÖs decision to suspend all recreational cricket with effect from 18th March extends to indoor and outdoor training, pre-season friendlies, junior programmes, ŌĆ£Nat West CricketforceŌĆØ and any associated cricket activity and is fully endorsed by our League and therefore the start of the 2020 cricket season will be postponed until further notice.
The League is hoping that some cricket will be playable this season, but it has already confirmed that the Knock Out Cup will not take place, and that there will be no ŌĆ£End of SeasonŌĆØ Presentation evening.
Whilst complying with the social distancing edicts in place, we are currently being encouraged to continue with ground care and maintenance in order that the season may start as soon as is practicable.
We will endeavour to keep everyone regularly updated on any news from the Leagues or the ECB. We look forward to seeing you all again sooner rather than later, but in the meantime look after yourselves, and Stay Safe!!
