Wonderful gesture from Wigton and District Community First Responder Group who as you can see have donated their old Defibrillator to Wigton Baths. They've upgraded to a higher spec one and took the opportunity to keep their old one in the community. Thanks very much to Darron West and his team, this is Wigton at it's best!

5 years & counting!!! This Wednesday 16th January marks the 5th anniversary of the saving of Wigton Baths and subsequently the formation of Wigton Baths Trust. 16th January 2014 I attended the last ditch meeting to save Wigton’s pool, at that meeting I extracted a promise from CCC that I would attempt to form a community trust but only if they gave me a date they would reopen it. CCC with the advice of Christian Perceval gave me a date for 3 weeks time, consequently I said I...’d form a trust. 5 years later, we still have our community pool, run by the trust, all volunteers who work tirelessly to keep it running. The Trust is backed by wonderful staff led by Elaine and all work together for the sake of our pool. Most important though is the the faith the community has showed in the Trust and Staff by coming to swim at our wonderful asset. The plans the Trust have put together for the loft extension are ambitious but why not? Once the access road gets built and our customers can get to the pool easier then things can only get better. As a footnote, I bought the pool from CCC for £1 as part of the asset transfer, I’ve never asked for it back 😎😎😎
Thank you everyone for showing us you believed in what we were trying and my words ‘I’ll form a trust if ....” weren’t wasted. Please share so people know they weren’t taken for granted. Alan.
