About Wild North Festival

29th Aug - 14th Sept

The Wild North Festival is a community based festival which showcases the unique character of the north Highlands!

Wild North Festival Description

The Wild North Festival is a new initiative which focuses on encouraging enjoyment, understanding and awareness of the rich natural heritage of the North Highland area through events and activities for visitors and local people.

In 2012 this pilot project was part-financed by the Scottish Government and the European Community Highland LEADER 2007 –2013 programme, Scottish Natural Heritage.

For 2013-2014 we are grateful for the support from the National Lottery through the Heritage Lottery Fund - http://www. hlf.org. uk

This festival will allow you access the wealth of idiosyncratic smaller community events and also their more high profile events and activities.

The Wild North Festival Steering group members who are working with the local communities are:
Caithness Biodiversity Group
Caithness Horizons
Caithness Partnership
Highland Council Ranger Service
Highlands and Islands Enterprise
CVO North West Sutherland
North Highland Initiiative
North Highland Tourism
Scottish Natural Heritage
Scottish Rural Development Council
Sutherland Partnership
UHI

It was hoped that the 2012 pilot festival and subsequent 2013 /14 festivals would be shaped into an annual movable feast of North Highland culture, activities, nature and heritage.

All events being held in the name of the Festival will have a direct or indirect link to the environment and to the cultural and natural heritage of the area.
