Thank you once again to all of our very generous clients that have gifted us so many boxes of chocolates, biscuits and alcoholic goodies. Just a small selection of some of the treats which we have divided up amongst the staff.
If any of you need us over the festive period just phone the normal practice numbers where our vets and nurses are on call to deal with any Christmas related mishaps!
Merry Christmas to everyone. Hope Santa Paws is good to all of furry friends.

In view of the current political situation, we would like to draw attention to the potential contingency plans for pet travel in the event of a no deal Brexit.
If you are planning an essential journey to Europe with your pet after 29th March 2019, a no deal Brexit may result in the UK being seen as a "3rd country" by the EU. Current pet passport documentation will not be enough.
The following preparations would be necessary:
... 1. Vaccination for Rabies 2. A blood test for rabies antibody taken at least 30 days after vaccination demonstrating a titre of >0.5iu/ml 3. A 3 month wait from the date of blood sampling before travel
Thus if you absolutely have to travel at the beginning of April, this process needs to be started before the end of November. This is likely to be before we have confirmation of "deal or no deal".
Please Note: If your pet has already been vaccinated against rabies but this was more than a few months ago, there is a reasonable chance that they will fail the blood test. Protection against rabies is very high, but this particular method of measuring starts to drop quite rapidly after a few weeks. If you are short on time, we would recommend revaccination.

Sunday 11th November 2018 marks the centenary of the end first world war. To pay our respects to the sacrifice made by so many during this war and other conflicts, we will be laying a wreath at the war memorial in Cupar.
The wreath will also contain some purple poppy petals in order to commemorate the animals that have fallen while working alongside the military. The purple poppies have been provided by the War Horse Memorial Charity whose aim is to provide support to military and equine charities with beneficiaries including the Household Cavalry Foundation.
We will remember them.

Please be reassured that Wilson & Partners is a fully independent local veterinary practice. We have heard of some misinformation circulating about the status of our Practices and would like to reassure our loyal client base that we are still owned and run by our three partners - John, Colin and Amanda with support from a fantastic team of vets, nurses and administrative staff.
We provide our own out-of-hours service run through our Cupar branch and are not part of a larger corporate entity. We strive to always put pets before profits and are committed to doing our very best for our patients.

We have handouts available giving advice on how to keep your pets happy over the fireworks period, please pop in to pick one up рЯШБ If you would like further advice please ask to speak to one of our vets or nurses рЯШБ

This gentle giant visited our cupar surgery this week рЯШБ his owner just re-homed him from a local rescue centre and wanted him given a check over. 'Bear' is a 9mth old rottweiler cross, 44kg of pure handsomeness вЭ§пЄП

We have the nicest clients.... huge haul of cakes, cookies and flowers for Ashleigh and Ross today following some heroic surgery to save a dog with bloat. Its well known that veterinary surgeons exist on a diet composed exclusively of sugar and caffeine, so this is very much appreciated. You guys really spoil us!

User

Please note: we are experiencing intermittent phone IT problems at Cupar and Leven. If you have an urgent enquiry or an emergency please email lab@wilsonandpartners.co.uk or telephone our St. Andrews branch on 01334479279. Thank you

рЯМ±Grass seeds рЯМ± .... So little how could they possibly cause so much trouble ?! The problem is that theyвАЩre so small they can get into very awkward areas!
We had 2 patients in today who both had them stuck in uncomfortable places!... Firstly, Woody came in with a sore ear and had this pesky seed retrieved from his ear canal ! He was very brave boy!
And then, half an hour later the 2nd one was taken from a poor cats eyelid where it had got stuck and caused an ulcer! Both patients are home with their families recovering from their trip to visit us. Thank you for letting us share your stories today.вЭ§пЄП

Summer can be hazardous to our pets, especially dogs.
рЯФ• вШАпЄП Heatstroke вШАпЄП рЯФ• рЯЪЧ A car sitting in 20oC heat can reach 40oC inside within 20 minutes! рЯМ° рЯРґ At that heat a poor pooch could suffer some serious long term damage. Cracking the windows and parking in the shade does little to help. The best advise : leave your four legged friend at home! рЯП°
... рЯР∞ ItвАЩs not just dogs that are affected. Make sure small pets like Rabbits and Guinea Pigs can get into the shade and have plenty of water to drink.рЯРє
Signs of heatstroke: -panting heavily -drooling excessively -lethargic, drowsy or uncoordinated -collapsed or vomiting
What to do: -Move to a shaded/cool area. -Immediately douse with cool (not cold) water, to avoid shock. If possible, you can also use wet towels or place in the breeze of a fan. -Allow the dog to drink small amounts of cool water. -Phone the vet.

We are delighted to have Colin Armstrong joining the partnership alongside existing partners Amanda and John. Colin will be a familiar face to most and will take responsibility for our Leven Branch. As an independent practice, the three of us are committed to continuing to provide the quality of service and care that we are renowned for.

Yesterday was a very special day at Wilson & Partners. After 35 years with us, Malcolm has hung us his white coat and stethoscope and is ready to embrace retirement. He will be hugely missed by us all. Malcolm, we wish you every happiness in the future.

Today and tomorrow we are embarking on staff training to keep everyone informed on the new data protection regulations. As of 25th May, we shall be updating our records as each client comes in, we ask for your patience while we undertake this mammoth task. Having your correct details allows us to contact you with updates on the progress of hospitalised and post operative patients, report lab results, send out healthcare reminders (vaccine reminders etc) and make referrals to ...specialists to name a few. If you would like to read through a more comprehensive list of how we manage and use your data, please visit our website www.wilsonandpartners.co.uk Please also pick up our terms and conditions leaflet next time you are in, it explains a bit about our business and the services we provide. Please speak to a staff member if you have any queries or concerns.

We cannot thank the staff at Cupar enough for caring for our demon Dave this week. We really didnвАЩt think weвАЩd get our boy home but John, Lindsay and all the nursing staff have gone above and beyond to make him better. A huge thank you from The Lindsays x

User

Thanks for helping our ageing whippet sheвАЩs feeling and looking a bit better рЯРґвЭ§пЄПрЯРґ

Sadly we have had to come to Wilsons far more than we might have wished for. I say sadly because our wee dog has an ongoing problem which necessitates her being seen promptly each time. The service we have received at Wilsons has been second to none, always treated really well and sympathetically. I can highly recommend this vets, the dog doesn't mind it much either despite the ongoing indignities!

User

Our 13 week old puppy had an infection...Was seen out of working hours, late at night and an excellent service from Jen (I think that was her name). Lillie is definatly on the mend and getting back to her usual self. Thank you all for the service you give x

User

My dog was savaged by 2 dogs on Saturday morning, we were taken right away, all the staff were fantastic, they made a fabulous job of taking care of my girl and getting her well enough to bring home, my mum used this vet for years and would recommend them to everyone

User

Just had Jasper to see Malcolm for his yearly booster. Fantastic service from all staff. Would highly recommend such a caring and professional vet. Jasper says woof woof Malcolm for the wee treat.

User

IвАЩve been taking pets to WilsonвАЩs since I was little and wouldnвАЩt go anywhere else. I always receive such great service and advice. Amazing care recently with my gorgeous dog when he fell ill, so sympathetic and caring when I sadly had to say Goodbye. I really appreciate everything youвАЩve all done.

User

I have had the good fortune to be with WilsonвАЩs for 10 years and I have brought a multitude of creatures in for their care. It is a great practice. Dogs, cats, rabbits, hens; they are all given the best of treatment. My old dog and new puppy have both been seen in recent weeks. They are both well thanks to the team.

User

I can't thank Wilsons enough. Our family over the course of the years have always used this vets. Our westie Bonnie had to go into the vets today with a blockage in her colon and we are so grateful for everything Jen done for Bonnie and I'm pleased to say Bonnie is back home with us tonight. Once again thank you

User

I can not thank you all enough for looking after my little furry guinea's so lovingly and for being so kind, especially to Sarah for doing a great job on little Breagha' op, lots of wheeks, Bronagh and Breagha. пњљ

User

Fantastic vets who took my cat in on an emergency basis. They kept me fully informed as to his condition throughout his weekend stay and it seemed that it was never too much trouble for them.

User

Fantastic place to take pets, my dog Honey (13 year old GR) has had a couple major ops and Wilsons have taken care of her and she has bounced back stronger than ever before.

Op 1- Pyometra - result -advised not to let her jump on anythign or get excited 4 days after her op she tried to jump up on the sofa and every jump her abdonmin kept hitting where her scar/stitches were.

Op 2 - Eye removal- result - due to cancer, apart from injuring everyone she passed with her head cone, she was determined to get back to full fitness as soon as she could.

Recently within the last month she has suffered from a stroke, which she has fully recovered from and I was hoping this would be the last of the troubles she would face until now where she has something called laryngeal paralysis, currently on meds for this so hoping these help her some if not then I hope there is an op procedure to help her.

Keep up the fantastic work guys and girls from one very very happy customer

User

Could not recommend these boys enough John and Johnathan have been great with my kitten Ozzy. Very greatful you have fixed a very sad angry cat back to his old happy wild self again! 100% recommend wilson vets! X

User

Compassionate and caring as well as skilled. Been with them twenty one years since Tiger Lily was a kitten and they have kept her healthy, likewise my other cats. Every staff member brilliant. Thank you everyone.

User

Best vets I've ever taken any animal to smal or large. Always give you pet a home to home feeling no matter how short the stay. Staff are amazing in both surgeries I've been to (Leven, Cupar)

User

Been bringing my pets here since I was a child when Beryl Lyon was a vet in the practice.

Always great and caring especially in emergencies.

One story is my German Shorthaired pointer took very poorly in 2009 after cupar was flooded. He ended up with a nasty infection in his gut. He was only 11 months old at the time and Shona never gave up on him. Touch and go. However he is 10 this year.

User

Absolutely exceptional service from Vet Sarah and Vet Nurse Zoe tonight with Misty. Misty is petrified of the vets so to see her relax tonight even though she was receiving treatment is a dream come true. Thank you ladies. YouвАЩre MistyвАЩs angels.
