Excited for Sofar Sounds? We are.
Sofar transforms everyday spaces - like a living room or retail shop - and turns it into a captivating venue for secret, live shows, creating an immersive experience that brings guests and artists closer together.
There will be two Sofar sessions taking place in the OCR, the first at 10pm and the second at 2am. Each session runs for an hour and will include sets from two different artists. The space can hold 50 people and when it is filled ...the room will be closed off until the session has finished.
To keep the magic of a sofar-style gig during the set, the team requests that audience members are silent during performances, phones are not used to record the gig and that everyone generally respects the artists.
So find a seat (floor seating encouraged!). You won't find out who's playing until you get there, so come with an open mind. You may even discover your new favorite artist!

We are super excited to announce that the Wolfson May Ball has partnered with the Sofar Sounds Cambridge team to create an intimate, unique experience of music for the ball attendees!
Sofar Sounds was founded out of love for the arts and respect for the artists. By making community experiences with intimate settings, stripped back sets and no barriers between artist and audience, the Sofar Cambridge team has hosted gigs every month for the past 5 years and brought a huge variety of artistic talent to Cambridge. Every lineup is specially curated to give audiences a diverse show and we are so excited to have a gig curated by them at our ball, it promises to be wonderful!

We are sad to announce that due to ill health Mylo has unfortunately had to cancel his performance at Wolfson May Ball this year.
Your May Ball committee has been working hard behind the scenes however and we are really excited to announce SIMIAN MOBILE DISCO DJ as our new headline act.
Formed from the ashes of psychedelic pop experimentalists, Simian, James Ford and Jas Shaw, have been recording and performing as Simian Mobile Disco for over ten years and have five studio albums, including ATTACK DECAY SUSTAIN and the immensely popular TEMPORARY PLEASURE. Over the course of their career, their sound has continuously evolved from record to record and we are thrilled to have them performing at Wolfson May Ball.
