More Chinese New Year adventures, tonight visiting my eldest boys Beavers troupe in Longside. An excellent opportunity for Shane to perform his first dance as lion head π Thanks for having us
3 from Ellon, 3 from Peterhead combining once more! Yet more Chinese New Year demos to come...
Just around the corner............
Sat front centre is Ryan Donald. Ryan began his martial arts journey learning Hung Ga, through Ian Rose, but came to realise that the Sanda (Chinese kickboxing) element of our art was where his heart lies. Since branching out himself he has went on the represent Britain nationally and internationally becoming a several times champion along the way. Now Ryan fights professionally and is dedicated to spreading the art of Sanda. He runs a school in Boddam, Peterhead area, where he teaches children and adults. An all around humble guy with some serious skills in his pocket. Give Sanshou UK - Scotland a search to find out more π
Pictured here with myself and my youngest boy is the excellent Tina Faulkner Elders, a teacher of the "internal" arts of Tai Chi and Bagua located in the Stonehaven area of Aberdeenshire. I've had the absolute pleasure of learning directly from Tina and can honestly say she's a wealth of knowledge and what I've learnt has definitely helped me flesh out my "external" chosen art of Hung Ga. If you're interested in the "gentler" side of martial arts seek out the Ruyi School of Taijichaun & Qigong for more information but don't think that because I use the term gentle Tina won't push you around. I can confirm from first hand experience that for a small lady she's a tough so and so π
Following an idea from an American school I follow online I've decided to use my platform to promote local martial arts and artists so with that in mind. First up is Ian Rose, Ian is not only my senior brother but he's also the President of Yees Hung Ga Europe and runs his own branch in Peterhead. Not only is he passionate man for our art but he is a fabulous father and family man, 5 of his children also study Yees, I'm proud to call him brother. If you're in the Peterhead area and fancy trying our art seek him out. You won't be disappointed π
Generating some turbine power π
Back at it today for part two of our Christmas seminars! All the kids, and adults too I must say, did great! Back to classes on Monday π
Happy New Year everyone, welcome to 2020 hope everyone has enjoyed the festive period. Classes roar back to life on Monday the 6th, I'm looking forward to seeing the usual suspects and hopefully some new faces too. There's always space in one of our classes throughout the week so if you or your children fancy giving Yees Hung Ga a go then please get in touch for more information π
Bit of focused fun for the end of the year, a kids seminar on our basic drills and an adults one on Double Ended Pole
Here's to another year of kung fu adventures! My heartfelt thanks and love to all those who tread this path with me too π
Last class of the year tonight so we wish you all a very Merry Christmas
Bit of fun in kids classes this week before we break for the holidays. I focus on what I call the 3 C's in kids sessions, Confidence, Camaraderie and Co-ordination, piggy backs seemed to cover all 3 whilst giving onlooking parents a good laugh π
In exciting (non political) news, Ellon has a new lion π
Its been 6 months we've been in our permanent residence so to celebrate we did a few class photos
