Must say wow, just take a look at these. Well done parents and children for getting involved in the Easter egg making. Fantastic ideas that even i couldn't decide therefore i asked the children to take a vote on which they liked the best. Was a close one between the ladybirds and the hot air balloons. However by one more vote the ladybirds won. Well done Esme and her mother from the butterfly room.

Emergency day at the helix. The Dragonflies had a great day discovering all different kinds of emergency services. Being able to touch equipment, actually go on or inside the vehicles and watch a show. One where a car was having to get cut up to save someone inside and the other was a man needing rescued from the water while we ate same snack. The children enjoyed this and learnt so much, as much as I did.

At Zetland nursery the children help prepare snack. Sometimes just for themselves and other times help prepare snack for everyone. We are hoping to achieve this year with our planting and growing that the children of Zetland will se the circle of life with regards to food. Starts from a seed to look after and water. Then at the right moment pick it, wash it, cut it and try it.

One of our bumblebee parents came along to help guide the children and staff with how to plant and grow different types of fruit and vegetables. These where chosen by the children in each room to what they'd like to grow. Here at Zetland nursery we hope the children will gain a deeper understanding and knowledge on where food comes from. Once the fruit and vegetables are grown and ready they will wash, perhaps cut them up and be able to eat what they have grown.

Zetland nursery is inviting parents to come along and join in with the fun of educating the children within our care. For a couple of weeks now, one of our parents from the dragonfly room suggested the idea he'd like to come along and help the children make bird boxes. This helps with environment, teaching the children about looking after wildlife and helps improves our garden,

Today Babies and preschoolers went swimming which was fantastic. Both staff and children had great fun as they where able to have one on one together to help further build their relationship stronger. The babies went in the morning where they explored a new environment to have lunch. Preschoolers enjoyed themselves that much too however they went in the afternoon and enjoyed a sunny winter walk back to the nursery.

our dragonfly room had a great afternoon at the helix going on a bus journey, exploring in risky play and building stronger friendships :)

Our amazing little ones at Zetland nursery make choices and decisions on a daily basis. Therefore we thought why don't they go on an adventure every week to the local fruit and vegetable shop and buy what we need and extra items that they'd like to try. It's nice giving back to the community, plus the children are enjoying the independence which it brings as well as learning the value of money and socialising.

On Friday the 1st of February, the children of Zetland nursery adventured outside after discussing the risks, how to keep safe and not to forget staying warm. The children's comments where priceless as one said '' fire is hot, don't touch.'' Another was making sure all his peers where kept warm and said ''we need a hot drink.'' when a staff member was discussing how we put out the fire a child said ''oooh look that's a lot of steam, just like a train I saw.'' The children are still talking about the fire pit today getting the other children who wasn't there interested. Not only about the hot chocolate and marshmallows I may add, but how warm it was and that it was pretty to watch.

On Tuesday at Zetland nursery, the children went to sing to the elderly people at Cummingham house, which they where so over joyed with hearing them sing that they all got a little drink and something to munch on. Yesterday we decided to have a Christmas lunch , all together. Where the children enjoyed pulling crackers, wearing the hats, listening to Fiona reading all the 'funny' jokes and eating delicious food that one of the children said ''Fiona this is the best Christmas meal I've had. We at Zetland nursery wish everyone one a Merry Christmas & A Happy New Year! :)

The Christmas parties have been a huge success thank you to all my staff who put great effort into making the experience magical for the children at Zetland nursery. Thank you to the parents who attended and got involved in our party games. We couldn't believe we had a great granny who came along to join in with the fun! Was lovely. The children loved Santa, I was glad there was no tears when he came in with his sack, ringing his bell and saying ''Ho Ho Ho''. He was fantastic! He had the children believing in his stories (even me) and reminded them that the reindeer's need their carrots and him, his mince pies and milk.
