54 Lemons

Pottery studio and cafe now relocated to Derbyshire. . .

They say when life gives you lemons make lemonade well 54 Lemons came about by just that.

When I first began internet shopping about 20 years ago I ordered 54 lemons instead of 9 (they were in bags of 6), I made everything out of lemons for the next 4 weeks!

After moving to St Ives from Derbyshire in 2014 I set up my studio at the Gaolyard Pottery but in September we had a fire and then the Tate closed for a year so I was without work. After some thought and a list of "things I love" which included baking, afternoon tea, art, craft, galleries, I decided to do them all in one place and 54 Lemons was born.

A place of creativity, fun, laughter, tea and cake!

I have been a ceramic artist for the past 12 years after graduating with a first class degree in sustainable design. I have set up my own studio, taught privately (in a secondary school, old peoples homes and adult education), exhibited in UK with a solo exhibition in 2014 sponsored by the arts council, sold my work on a market stall, made awards for Derby City Partnership, various public art commissions and artist residencies, and currently facilitate workshops for the Tate.

Paint a Pot

The Paint a Pot is a drop in activity where you can come and pick a bisque ware pot and decorate it. 54 Lemons will then glaze and fire it for you to pick up in a few days.

The cost of the items vary from £5 up to £30 and all include paints and firing costs.

Monday Writing Club
Write a short story using our starters and enter a competition.

Tuesday Sewing Club
Come and sew together either carry on the monthly sewing project

Wednesday Make It Club
Come and make the monthly DIY project together

Thursday Pottery Club
Carry on your monthly technique and apply it

Friday Adult Colouring Club
Colour a famous artwork and have a go on our colouring wall!

Parties

HEN SHOWER
Afternoon tea and making activity-choose from; wedding table favours, facinators, diadems or pinata

KIDS
Kid style afternoon tea and paint your own ceramic toy, joint painted plate for birthday girl /boy

BABY SHOWER
Afternoon tea and making either applique baby grows, baby keepsake box, printed bibs etc

BESPOKE
Bespoke party made to measure for whoever.
