One volunteer joined us at Advice Portsmouth whose aim was to boost their confidence and get people skills so they could achieve their dream. They became part of our Reception Team and ended up being a natural behind the desk! They greeted people, found the right support for them through questioning, supported them to use the computers, did a stock take of the stationery cupboard and helped with other general admin tasks. After some time, they tried again with their dream and were successful! We were sad to them go as they were an absolute pleasure to work with, but so happy that we could be a part of their journey and proud they achieved what they wanted to with us. Volunteers' Week 1-7 June 2019
A big thank you to all our volunteers for their commitment and contribution as a volunteer at Advice Portsmouth. You truly do make a big difference to our service. Here are a few photos of some of our amazing volunteers who were presented with a certificate and gift.

From 1 June 2019, the Tenant Fees Act 2019 will come into force.
The Act will automatically apply to all new contracts signed on or after 01.06.2019.
The Law will apply to other contracts from 01.06.2020; this includes if as a private tenant you:... • Signed a contract before 01.06.2019 and are in a fixed tenancy agreement • Signed a contract before 01.06.2019 and moved onto a statutory periodic contract; or • Signed a contract before 01.06.2019 and want to renew it.
With the Act coming into place, the following payments will be banned: • Viewing fees • Fees to set up a tenancy (i.e. referencing fees, guarantor fees, inventory check, credit checks and administration fees) • Check out fees • Third party fees (i.e. not being charged for using third parties for services such as credit checks) It is set out within the guidance, Landlords and Agents cannot charge more rent in the first few months to cover the cost of banned fees.

Employment Fact
From April 2019, all workers including agency workers are required to be provided with payslips.
All payslips should show the total number of variable hours a worker has worked. This only applies where workers are paid upon the hours they have worked. For example overtime or different rate of pay

Please help!
We provide help and advice which includes providing food when people are in crisis or need. Currently our food cupboard is very low on tinned food, pasta sauces, cereals, dried noodles, noodle pots, UHT milk etc. We would be extremely grateful for any kind donations.

Advice Portsmouth held a bake sale and competition yesterday in order to raise funds for the service as part of the Great Legal Bake week. Stephen Morgan MP came to judge the competition which was won by Lucy with her popping candy cupcakes. The team managed to raise over £100!
