Ahmarra Installations recently completed an external joinery project as part of the regeneration of East India Docks in London. The project involved installing decking, seating and cladding in the complex's stunning outdoor space. This project forms part of a large-scale development called Republic, with Ahmarra previously completing a 10-storey atrium for the building, which has since been named ‘Commercial Project of the Year’ at the Structural Timber Awards. Ahmarra Door Solutions recently manufactured and installed over 100 bespoke Q-Mark fire doors for an extension at the Fareham Innovation Centre. The doors had to offer fire resistance, with FD30 and FD60 ratings, as well as sound proofing with an acoustic value of dB40. These high quality door cores and engineered timber frames were supplied by Lathams Ltd, who specialise in high performance door cores which are regularly used in the manufacture of doors for the education, healthcare, hospitality & commercial sectors, and luxury homes. Supplied by HOMAG, the beam saw replaces our existing machine and will improve material flow in this vital production area using the latest technology which results in much faster-cutting speeds with no reduction in accuracy or the quality of cut.

Worryingly, at least 25,000 doors installed in social housing across the UK are among the five types that failed testing carried out following the 2017 Grenfell tragedy in west London. Doors must be able to withstand a blaze for a minimum of 30 minutes, in order to give residents time to safely vacate the building and legally comply with building regulations. The UK’s oldest veterinary school, The Royal Veterinary College (RVC), is in the process of a £7.5 million refurbishment.
