It's less than three weeks until our International Jousting and Medieval Tournament on 24-29 July!
As its the 10th anniversary we've changed the format...the competitors will be made up of the highest scoring individual jousters from years gone by - meaning there will be no team competition in 2018. But with solo glory on the line, you can expect the fiercest competition to date!

We're looking forward to our event highlight of the year, the 10th anniversary of our International Jousting and Medieval Tournament, taking place on Tuesday 24th - Sunday 29th July.
Representing some of the best and most celebrated jousters in the world, visitors can watch the competitors in action as they charge at each other atop specially trained horses, clad in full plate armour and wielding lances!
Aside from the tension of the tilt-rail, the historical and sporting s...pectacular will also keep spectators on the edge of their seats with a series of thrilling hand-to-hand combat challenges and hunting skills contests.
A fantastic family day out, festivities also include have-a-go archery, falconry displays, face painting, arts and crafts and storytelling against the backdrop of the stunning grounds and ancient Castle.

The clashing of swords will ring out in the grounds of Arundel Castle, on the weekend of 23 – 24 June as the Four Nations Medieval Tournament sees four great kingdoms meet in fearsome foot combat.
Beneath the ancient Castle, this 15th century style contest between England, France, Poland and Denmark promises awe-inspiring feats of skill and immersive activities for all ages.

The best way to get over #backtowork is to plan another incredible weekend! Stroll through over 40 acres of stunningly maintained grounds or visit one of our action-packed historical events. https://arundelcastle.org/whats-on/

User

We are looking forward to the very British tradition of a glorious early May bank holiday! Pop into our café to enjoy another traditional favourite – cream scones with jam and good old cup of tea!

User

It’s going to be a late May Bank Holiday to remember at Arundel Castle, as a French raiding party will seize the Castle in an action-packed three-day event (26-28 May).
Visitors will be transported back to 1474, the time of Edward IV – The Earl of Arundel is away with the king and the French have taken the opportunity to wrest the Castle from the grasp of the English.
The Siege will showcase authentic 15th century combat techniques, combining hand-to-hand combat with awe-insp...iring cannon displays, with a series of plot twists throughout the weekend. The outcome isn’t set in stone either, with even the participants unsure who will emerge victorious until the final battle.
Away from the smoke and noise of the battlefield, a tented encampment will be set up across the Castle’s Upper Lawns, with all the sights and sounds of 15th century life.

We took our Father in law here last weekend. He's wheelchair bound after suffering a stroke. I can't recommend the staff here enough. They were so very helpful and accommodating with getting him round the venue. I mean I was touched by the compassion and helpfulness we all had a great day and really enjoyed the siege. Highly recommended this place for a great day out. Thanks to all the staff for all their help

User

We had an amazing day out, the whole place is immaculate and an added bonus was the extra medieval attractions that ran throughout the day. Well worth the money for a family of four.

User

We had a great full day out my cousin was over from USA he has been over a few times but never visited a castle he was not disappointed! we all thought it was amazing inside and out knights having a sword fight , battles to win flags, birds of prey, and beautiful gardens hole day was a great experience thank you x

User

We definitely were not dissaponted! It was Brilliant!! Well worth buying the Gold Plus tickets. We all loved it and will be coming back. The reenactments were fantastic. All the fun things for families/kids to do were perfect. 2 oldies one seven year old and a three year old x

User

We all had such a brilliant day at the Castle Siege and we watched the re-enactment both times. The gardens are absolutely beautiful and the children loved exploring them. The castle itself is really impressive and we had the Gold Plus Family ticket, so we went went to the top of the Keep and into the private rooms - the library and the main hall are like something out of a film set. All in all a terrific place to explore for a day, even with fairly young children.

User

Very beautiful ground and well kept castle. The staff are very friendly and it's definitely worth investing in the gold plus ticket to enable you to view the entirety of Arundel Castle. I would recommend for couples or families with grown children

User

Travelling south we stumbled on this Castle by accident. What a wonderful visit we had. Guides were helpful both inside the magnificent Castle and in beautiful gardens. History was brought to life and was presented in a way to be accessable and memorable. We had some lovely conversations with guides. One of our best visits to any Historic place, Highly recommended

User

So worth a trip to see.The gold plus ticket gives access to all areas and we were not disappointed. The castle has a feel of the ancient but alive. The rooms are well presented and there is plenty of information available to enrich the experience.Great views from the Keep.Ghe library us to die for.My only regret was we could have done with more than 3 hours, as didn't do the grounds justice at all. The staff were very enthusiastic and didn't seem bored when answering my endless questions.

User

Lovely staff throughout the castle and its lovely gardens, happy to give historical info or practical info about how to best view everything at the Castle. Highly recommended.

User

I worked at Arundel Castle for one season while living in the UK. It was the most wonderful experience, with the kindest people to work with. There is a lot of passion, experience, knowledge, and commitment that goes into that place every single day to make it such a lovely place to work - and a memorable visit for anyone.

User

I arrived at the castle and got a Gold plus ticket for the price of a Gold with my English Heritage discount. It £22 for a Gold plus ticket it's maybe pricey but definitely worth it. There is just so much to see, the grounds, the keep, the Fitzalan chapel. The visitor route means you won't miss anything it is obvious how the Castle has been added to in over 1000 years of history. It is definitely worth arriving earlier in the day around lunchtime at the latest to give yourself enough time. There is plenty of information and guides in every room who will be able to answer any questions. It's one of the best preserved examples of a motte and bailey Castle I've seen. Parking is easy opposite the Castle entrance and the train station is about a 10 min walk away. There is a large restaurant and tea rooms although I arrived late afternoon and the selection wasn't great. The gardens and Fitzalan chapel are very well kept and are definitely worth a visit from the gardens beautiful views can be afforded of Arundel cathedral . There is quite a lot of walking and the keep had some very narrow staircases although a one way system is in operation. The rest of the Castle us reasonably accessible and very spacious.

User

How can one not say a very well kept piece of history was not beautiful?! A lovely castle. My 8 year old son said "mum this is much better than I thought it would be"! Very well kept and steeped in history.

It was expensive though. I was irritated by not spotting a £2 difference to get the gold plus to see the bedroom - but really £2 extra? Is that necessary?

User

Had a fantastic day. Loved the history as it came alive. I have read so many books about the period. Had the bonus of chatting to one of the extremely knowledgeable Gardner's and picked up tips about fig trees. Had a lovely cup of tea in the restaurant, which was needed after the treck up the keep. Wonderful day out and great value for money.

User

Excellent - well worth the money!

A lot to see, beautiful gardens and unlike others have said I found the staff in the room made the experience of the castle more exciting as they told us what they knew and we met some really lovely characters!

Elizabeth in the castle bedrooms part of the castle was especially nice lady 😃

User

Came here with my 3 year old daughter, sister, her 14 month old boy and she is also 28 weeks pregnant. Weather was perfect, brought a picnic and enjoyed it on the lawns outside the chapel. The castle is incredible and I raced around with my little girl who was so excited! Only down side which we did not think of prior to our visit was that pushchairs are not allowed in the castle and not suitable for the chapel either. (Lots of steps) bring a baby carrier!! Also, we never made it to the keep either as there were too many steps for my 3 year old and she froze halfway up and I am 1 week post surgery so could not carry her which was a shame.

Will revisit soon when I am able to carry her around but she still went to bed a very happy girl and had the best day.

Staff were amazing and so helpful and friendly towards us! The price definately reflects value for money as you can spend the whole day here and children under 5 are free too!!

We will be back! Thank you so much!!

User

Amazing castle. Beautiful gardens. Lovely friendly staff. Thoroughly enjoyed our visit.

User

Absolutely fantastic day. At £20.00 each for gold + ticket worth every penny. Spent 4 hours here and was sad when the end came. Don't wonder whether to go or not...it really is a must see castle.

User

A beautiful living castle not a museum. It feels warm and inviting not a castle in ruins. Lots of steps and windy narrow stairs in the Keep. The most beautiful gardens and wooden buildings I've ever seen. Very well maintained. Not too busy. A hidden gem. The most beautiful and well preserved castle ever. You must visit!

User

Amazing castle and stunning grounds. The only criticism I have is, it would been nice to have some more information about the art on the walls as not all of it had info plackards or even a discripton. Other than that is was splendid!
