Another success this week, this lovely Ferrari 308GT4 Dino came to see us for its annual tickle. A good clean, polish and recoat are all that’s needed to have it looking tip top, and ready for the European driving adventures planned with it this year.
In addition, due to an unexpected water leak, the carpets and mats had a thorough deep clean. The water had pooled in the passenger footwell, and as a result, left some mould and a damp smell. We used a special enzyme based cleaner that kills any bacteria and spores, then used the extractor to remove the water and cleaner from the carpets. This left them looking and smelling much fresher.

Those lovely people at @hygancarcare have been kind enough to send us some samples of their synthetic sponge cleaning tools, and I don’t think I’ve ever seen @matt.savory leap into action so excitedly! There is a brilliant selection of thoughtfully shaped pieces for the super awkward corners and edges presented by Audi and Bentley grilles, interior air vents, awkward multi spoked wheels and so on. We’ll be putting these through their paces and giving honest feedback.

Also completed this week, we popped over to help our friends at @detailmycar with their client’s Porsche Cayman. The bonnet and bumper had recently been resprayed, so PPF was an obvious choice to protect that investment. While we were at it, we removed the old factory stone chip guards on the rear quarters that had done rather dull and yellow, and installed new, larger, bespoke ones in Xpel Ultimate Plus for a better look and more protection. Feedback from the DMC chaps is that their client was very pleased when he collected his car.

What a very busy week! This brand new X4M Competition has been booked in for and extended front end PPF install, but upon arriving, our client decided to go for full car coverage. So, with time not on our side, we threw ourselves into it.
The amazing pattern designs mean that we can adapt to requests like this much easier. Whilst some parts of the car were rather challenging, they still fit beautifully, making for a more efficient use of our time and a great final finish. Th...e only part we bulk installed (not using a pattern) was the bonnet, to try and achieve a seamless finish on the front edges. This isn’t always possible, but it worked a treat on this BMW.
Our client was delighted when he collected the car, and spent a considerable amount of time inspecting it before declaring us ‘magicians’ as he couldn’t find the film edges!

Our second handover this morning was for this aggressive looking BMW M3. A 2018 car, in great condition, our client has recently purchased it and wanted to protect the vulnerable areas. We used the amazing Xpel patterns to install self healing Ultimate Plus film to the front bumper, wings, A pillars, sills and rear splashguards (the last two being particularly important as the wheels on this car sit slightly wider than usual, so will throw stones at the bodywork). The bonnet ...was bulk installed, working with the shape of the panel to leave no exposed edges at the front. This made for a really tidy and secure install. It seems strange that the best compliment a PPF install can get is where the client can’t see that there is film on their car! Our client is keen on detailing his own car, and can now do so at his leisure, knowing the most vulnerable parts are protected by the best product out there.

Now they’ve been handed back@ to customers, we can share a couple more cars that have kept us busy this week. First, this rare 2016 VW Golf GTI Clubsport S. One of only 150 cars (just 400 worldwide), it has covered very few miles. Before using it, our client wanted to protect its beautiful condition and maintain originality, so we have installed Xpel Ultimate Plus PPF to the whole front end, including A pillars and leading edge of the roof, including the gloss black trim. It’...s a really great pattern, and the exceptionally glossy finish of Xpel film means it looks super sharp. Now it’s ready for some B-roads and trackdays!

Lots of Xpel PPF installed this week, following the conference in Texas last weekend. Matt and I enjoyed putting into practice some of the techniques that were discussed during advanced training sessions there. We’re always looking for any ways to improve, no matter how small, to be amongst the best.
This gorgeous 2018 Aston Martin Vanquish S Volante received a full front end install of Xpel Ultimate Plus, for our friend Peter @designbydetail. The wonderful, exclusive patterns were tweaked to achieve as neat an install as possible, taking advantage of the badge and vents being already out of the bonnet.

Finally home, and time to reflect on an amazing weekend at the 2020 Xpel Dealer Conference. Making the trip to Texas is a big commitment of time and money, but we firmly believe that Xpel are the market leaders in PPF, and love being part of it.
These last few days have allowed us to learn lots, from hugely talented and respected installers such as @clearbrachris, from experts in their field, such as @edhowie, and enjoy time with industry friends like James @ti22detailing an...d Jay @migliordetailing.
We saw first hand the amazing warehouse operation in San Antonio, where each and every roll of PPF is examined in detail as a final quality control step, before it makes its way to the installers. We saw other things Xpel are investing heavily in, not yet for public consumption, that ensure their class leading status is maintained.
A special thanks to @texasdobbins who lead the team organising the event, and to @fraser2121 for looking after us whilst there, including at the brilliant ‘fun casino’ end party!
