Sometimes I get asked to do "my best" on a job as, simply put, clients know that I can be trusted to make the biggest, safe improvement in a car's appearance on budget
This was one of those jobs. Six year old paint that's been a daily dodgem car, hedgewashed, car washed and even some tool with a rotary who clearly couldn't be arsed to do it properly (or didn't have the skills)
Anyway, a very thorough wash, chemical decontamination, manual decontamination and then a proper pai...nt inspection meant that I had all the information I needed and a blank canvas to start safely improving the paintwork within timeframes and budget
I've annotated the photos but I'm sure that you'll be able to follow the pics and see what's going on for yourself. Products and hardware disclosed in the notes by the way ;)

2014 paint that's been driven along hedges, been badly washed and then had some tool with a rotary let loose on it. I was asked to "do what you can" to get the car looking fresh and lay down some protection Full clean, chemical and manual decontamination, proper paint assessment, two stage polish, panel wipedown, stone chips painted in, and two layers of protection, all in one day

Deep dive 2 ✅ Brand new Ferrari 812 Superfast detail
Just one day was allocated to this new supercar, as the owner wanted several of his cars 'treated' during one booking so this was very much a case of identifying the issues, recording these for the owner and dealer, then fixing or at least maximising the look of the car whilst simultaneously laying down the protection for paint, alloys and trim
An early start and late finish enabled me to complete a thorough inspection, sin...gle stage polish, paint wipedown and GTechniq protection. Beyond that the engine bay was cleaned and treated, the alloys were coated and the interior was given a basic detail as well
Everything from 1" pads through to 5.5" pads were used with three different machine types, just to get the 812 back into pristine order, as it should have been from day one
The photos will explain the steps along the way and I hope go some way to explaining the intricacy that is required when detailing a bespoke vehicle like this. The detail was completed across three days in all

2020 Dodge Ram Laramie in PXJ black metallic
Two stages of machine work, following a cut to remove defects and a long refinement stage to really bring the paint alive
**For guidance, if your vehicle has pronounced defects on a dark colour and you want a finish like the above, then budget for at least two days work. Time can be saved, and cost savings passed on, if you don't want that last 10% so we might be able to wrap things up in a day 👍**

Leather cleaner by Colour Lock with gentle agitation with a soft brush

Work in progress on this chalky old carbon bonnet. The client said "that's f+%*ed". I didn't agree 😁

"The Hulk" 2020 Dodge Ram Custom build; a true 1 of 1
This post is the first in a series of more detailed updates of my work and services. Hopefully you find the information useful and enjoyable too, after all I am referred to as a detailer and yet some posts barely have enough content to warrant any interaction, so here goes with plan B :D
The Ram is the subject of a forthcoming magazine feature so I won't go into too many details about the build and spec, but suffice to s...ay that if you wanted to build your own Ram with custom parts you could do a lot worse than copy this and shortcut months of development time
My role in things was to enhance the fresh paintwork, releasing the gloss and optimising clarity of clearcoat before adding the client's chosen ceramic coating to the paint finish
In addition to that, all aspects of the matte bumpers, alloys, grille, window trim, blown arches and mirror caps were also coated as well as the glass, tyres and arches being treated

Clio RS200 multi-stage polish with isolated Trizact work to eradicate as many surface defects as possible safely
Protection was Gtechniq C2V3 for great gloss
This is the third or fourth RS200 I've worked on in recent years and they always strike me as superb hot hatches, with brilliant spec and terrific value for money
... I won't patronise anyone who follows my work with the basics but properly cleaning and cleansing and preparing paintwork is the only way to guarantee good results. If you want a professional working on your car, me or anyone else, choose carefully, satisfy yourself that your car is in good hands and that the work is appropriate to your needs (y)
