A wonderful garden we maintain yet despite the dry weather we have been having the grass still grows rather well despite the lawn looking rather parched throughout. The rose garden is a sheer joy of wafting fragrance on each mower pass. Happy Days.

We often get asked to create a water feature or the sound of moving water in a garden for many design customers and here we look at some examples of water features used in show gardens by other landscape designers. Water plays a great role in gardens from an ecological point of view but also to stir the senses. The following images are gardens that give us a great deal of inspiration when looking for something that will connect the feeling of the garden together. The first ...image is a simple rill in a curve shape that runs through the planting and a patio to fill a still pool. It also acts as a step over in the paving. Decking makes a great feature when used with water and luscious planting. In picture 2 it gives the feel as though it's floating on the water surface. The water plants are kept to a minimum and in clump form planting. Finally, a large pool with a water blade spouting through a wall adds a sense of serenity to a garden. I love this feature with the emphasis more so on the planting. A bronze sculpture emphasises the calmness and beauty of this feature with the character enjoying the stillness of the water on a gravel-like beach on the side of the pool.
