Really lovely meal at Bankers yesterday, my Niece isn't a very tidy eater which they didn't mind about, there was 7 of us in total, all food came out together, lovely and hot, nice crispy batter, better than you would get in a takeaway, didn't feel rushed to eat and leave as you do in some places!

Fabulous fish - not a bone to be seen and the batter was light and crisp. Real chip shop chips and tasty mushy peas - what’s not to like? It was quiet, but staff were good - without being over attentive and in your face. I would definitely recommend the food!

Booked for 1pm lunch today and what a little gem we found just a short walk from the front. Ordered the salmon steak, amazed at the portion sizes, cooked to perfection and thoroughly enjoyed. Dessert was the icing on the cake

Heard great things about this restaurant. It was ok but not great. The waitress was wonderful, really helpful & engaging. The atmosphere is a bit unwelcoming. The ham, egg & chips was ok but far too many chips. The lemon meringue pie was ok but too sweet.

The place is nice and all and so is the food. The problem was the waiter that kept looking at us and prompting for us to leave at 9(when the place closed at 10) !!! It was a family reunion and we would have appreciated to be able to stay a few minutes after finishing our meals, especially since the place was empty!!!! Really rude

The food itself was ok (chips not great), but for a second time I deliverooed an order and had something missing that was on my receipt as paid for. Disappointing

I’ve just picked up medium cod and chips from Bankers Express. Fish was cold and chips were tepid. I was expecting freshly cooked food but I was duped by staff who insisted the fish had just been cooked. The staff should be more aware of how easy it is to lose a good reputation

the place was nice, me and my girlfriend we started the dinner with starter to share and I must say it was really good. Then we took as second two sole with chips, one of which was fried and the other was cooked baked. It was nothing that I expected honestly better. Regarding the staff I do not know, they seemed unprofessional and unfriendly with us customers. The next time I go back to Brighton, I think about it if I go there or not.

Thought I would try the Hangleton one for a portion of chips.... Very disappointed as they were luke warm and quite tasteless... wont go there again even though being local to me. Will stick to my own favourite a little further away.

Terrible service tonight, we arrived in the take away at 9:25pm we got to the front of the line at 9:40pm to be told we could sit but had to use the other door. Proceeding to the other enterance we waiting for a table to be told we couldn’t sit as thy are closed. The restaurant states they close at 10pm and they didn’t have time to cook our food. The woman who answered me when I advised we have been told to come around by the staff member at the counter was extremely rude shouting across a room full of people. I told her she should mention it to the counter as they weren’t aware. We then had to queue again and finally got served at 9:48pm. To be told there were no haddock deals available. So cod it was then 😒 we got served outlet food at 10:10 pm and they had forgotten to fry or re sold my friends small cod so we had to wait further. A shocking experience. Miserable counter staff and not very well trained in customer service. Not a great experience for our first night in Brighton.

Such a shame to be turned away at only 21:10pm. I've been coming to Bankers forever, and never fail to visit when I'm in Brighton.. but just felt so unwelcome last night. We didn't want 5 course al la carte dining at that time of night!! If we did I would understand.. and when it's advertised that they shut at 10pm was a bit of a disappointment.

Portion sizes of cod at church road branch cut drastically for same price - and a load of lip when you query it. Downhill slide...

I went to the hove restaurant today with my girlfriend and my daughter and I was appalled with the service and the way we were treated by the older lady waitress and the manager. I ordered a grilled dover sole which came out to me as a battered dover sole full of bones which impossible to eat because of the bones and the batter. I quite politely told the waitress and she was very rude to me, when I got back to my table I also realized that my daughters starter of salmon was wrong. At the end of the meal I decided to see the manger away from the table to tell him what had happened and he was very abrupt towards me, not letting me see a menu to explain what had happened to him, in the meantime the rude waitress was confronting my girlfriend and daughter at the table while i was not there. the staff who took my order made a mistake on two out of three of the meals ordered and i was told it was my fault. I was so discussed at how I have been treated by the waitress and the manager and I feel other customers should be warned before going there

Had another bad experience, lukewarm chips, poor service whilst all hell going on around us and you'd think a restaurant would have proper plates. Regretted giving them another chance, avoid at all costs till they can get their act together and they won't respond to emails either

Go in 15 mins before closing absolutely craving fish and chips and they won’t cook you some fish, will only offer chips.
