Insta vs reality 🤣
... needless to say I will not be teaching this particular exercise in class!
I always try out creative moves before I subject my clients to them.
... Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn’t. But don’t worry, if I’m making you do it in class it’s definitely one that WORKS!
If you like pure torture and have calves made of steel... then give this a go, otherwise... I do not recommend 😂

Trying out all my harder moves on Luke because I’m ‘pregnant’ (lazy).
Seriously though, I did have a go myself and this was hard but soooo good! Amazing for strengthening legs and glutes whilst also playing a part in effectively lengthening the hamstrings and calves.
... We practiced this on a yellow spring and with no springs but felt a yellow came up trumps, aiding in keeping the carriage stable enough to perform the pistol squat and making the hip/knee flexion pull in that little bit harder.

Nothing fancy here. Just a simple version of over the edge to strengthen and lengthen obliques. My fave oblique training method ever, preggo or not.
I miss proper ab training, so this feels so good and like I’m actually reaaaally working (Those who’ve done this know how hard it is!!)
Lateral flexion feels SO good in pregnancy, especially when you’re at the stage where bump is restricting other movements (I had to bring my knee a little bit further forward than I normally wo...uld to accommodate the bump). The stretch at the end is everyyyyythingggg!

Soph’s first ever unassisted backbend on the reformer ♡
Yes, we have work to do! Less lumbar hinge, more thoracic extension... we know! But it’s all about #progressnotperfection!
... So many clients get worked up and annoyed with themselves when they have to take an impromptu rest or can’t execute a certain exercise to the level they’d like, but honestly, no one gets there overnight! I think it’s more rewarding seeing progress over time and then recognising that progress and seeing how far you’ve come! Don’t beat yourself up because you can’t do things perfectly. It’s all in the process!

I hear this type of thing said a lot in my classes... providing diverse, dynamic and interesting sessions is something I personally strive to provide to each and every client that’s walks through the doors. Our beautiful #allegro2 reformers (which we have in the #chandlersford studio and #shirley garden studio) are one of a kind - they allow myself and teachers alike to be so creative and come up with endless ways to move and feel the deep deeeeep buuuuurn 🔥 so, thank you @balanced_body for creating such a wonderful piece of kit!

I’m guilty myself of skipping the PT session or cancelling a gym membership because I ‘can’t afford it’ but happily spend £40 on a takeaway a week or £100s on an ASOS order 🙈 While material things provide momentary happiness and satisfaction, what does it actually do for you in the long run?

Wheelbarrow into push-up is a fantastic exercise, pregnant or not! As long as you’re still able to support yourself it’s a great second trimester exercise to get in that core work when you are no longer doing curl up action or difficult plank holds etc.
Be sure to pull that belly button in (I like the analogy of hugging your baby if you’re preggo) and tuck tailbone slightly, engaging glutes and protecting the lower back.
... I started doing this on a blue spring but quickly changed to a blue and yellow as I needed a bit more support. But you could go lighter or heavier, have a play around and see what works for you!

This standing carriage flow is great for introducing standing work (without the box) to your clients. Using a red spring is like the happy medium between too heavy for the arms and feeling too wobbly and ‘unsafe’ on a light spring. 👌🏻

Hands up if you breath a sigh of relief when you hear those words “pop your feet into the straps” 🙋🏼‍♀️ (unless I’ve told you to grab the Pilates ring beforehand 😂)
We always save a little time at the end of class to really focus on stretching. Not just to stretch the muscle groups we’ve worked because a lot of the exercises aim to strengthen and lengthen at the same time anyway, but to help relieve aches and pains caused by lack of movement and flexibility. This This glute and hip stretch, along with a couple of other stretches we’ve been doing this week, really helps to relieve lower back pain. And they feel amazing whilst you do them too!

Meet one of our gorgeous instructors, Amelia!
Amelia has danced from the age of 4 and lived and trained in London whilst working as a professional dancer. When she moved home from London she continued with her Pilates training to recover from injuries and maintain strength (and because once you start, you can’t stop! It’s addictive like that!)
She decided to train for her level 3 with @futurefittraining (at the same time as me, Jade ☺️) and after joining our team, has since... continued her training in dynamic reformer Pilates with @tenhealthfitness.
Amelia feels that teaching Pilates is a way of combining her passions of dance and fitness and you’ll see that translate in her classes! They’re always dynamic, fun and creative.
She’s a very caring, attentive and encouraging trainer. She says “Seeing the change and progression in clients is one of the main reasons why I absolutely love it!”

This variation of single leg bridge seriously strengthens and lengthens the hammies. LOVE It!
The lighter the spring, the harder it is! I like to start on 2R (and lure them into a false sense of security 😂) and then lighten the spring by a quarter every 2 reps!
