Bringing Punjabi Dance Lovers Together. . .

With the increase in popularity of Bhangra music, Bhangra dance has also gained growing attention over the years. The introduction of Bhangra competitions has fuelled the drive particularly for youths to get involved, take up the art form and experience the richness of Punjabi culture.

Bhangra Punjabian Da (BPDEvents) was formed out of this new wave of interest for competitive Bhangra in the UK. When our founders Fidpal & Natasha competed with their university team Brunel Bhangra at The Bhangra Showdown, they decided to set up their own team to keep up with stamina, enhance their choreographing skills and stay comp ready between the seasons. Just like them, many others emerged and formed independent competitive teams of their own. The UK is now thriving with both University Teams and Independent Bhangra Teams who are endlessly pushing the reach of Bhangra much farther and faster than the handful of very well established professional teams which pre exited before them but are more focused on gigs and events appearances.

These new generation of teams are ablaze with passion for the Art and this is demonstrated by the endless amount of time, effort and money they invest into producing phenomenal and memorable Bhangra sets which go on to be appreciated by Bhangra Dance lovers all around the world! They are highly versatile and their talents goes beyond the dance as they use their mixing skills to influence main stream Bhangra music through remixes which become smashing dance floor hits. The Bhangra teams who compete at the highest level are always proving themselves by creating sets which draws in new admires who can relate to the nuances of modern twists as well deep rooted folk sets which resonates with those knowledgeable about the Punjabi culture. These are few reasons why we believe competitive Bhangra Teams and Dancers need to be united and celebrated; as a result Bhangra Dancers Awards (BDA) Party was launched.

BDA Party this year is aiming to celebrating the best of UK competitive Bhangra in a social dinner and dance setting. We hope this further promotes awareness of the Punjabi Dance and encourage younger people to take up the Art from. The event will be taking place on Saturday, 9th December 2017 at The Centre Banqueting, Southall, UB2 4AU. Being organised by BPDEvents, we will be uniting all Bhangra Dancers and those that appreciate the Dance, bringing them under one roof to enjoy a night full of entertainment.

The BDA party 2017 is a night not to be missed! The event will include breathtaking performances and an awards ceremony for the following 6 awards; Best Male Dancer, Best Female Dancer, Best Jodi, Best Mix, Best Bhangra Competition and Best Competitive Bhangra Team. All nominees have been entered either by default for winning the respective category title at a competition or by the renowned judges that have judged these competitions all within this current year. Winners will be announced on the night of the awards and would have been fairly voted for by the public.

BPDEvents is also teaming up with organisers to promote all Bhangra competitions as this is platforms which allows for Dancers and Teams alike to challenge themselves and showcase their skills. We aim to get a representative of all existing Bhangra competitions including: FolkStars, The Bhangra Showdown, Capital Bhangra, Bhangra Fest and a new upcoming competition to give a brief talk on what their competition has in store for 2018. They will provide important details and key dates so if you are a Bhangra Team or a Bhangra Fan you don’t want to miss this. Additionally there will be many giveaways including free tickets to be won on the night to all the competitions.
