Bicester Fire Station Description

Bicester Fire Station is part of Oxfordshire County Council's Fire & Rescue Service.

It is an on call station, crewed by approximately 26 on call personnel living or working within the Bicester area, and able to respond and turnout the appliances in 5 minutes.

The station is home to two rescue appliances and a specialist hazmat vehicle.

The station also has a complement of fire cadets ages 12-18 who meet on a Monday night between 1830 & 2030.

Training night is on a Tuesday night between 1900 and 2100 - anyone interested in finding out more about a career as an on call fire fighter can pop down to find out more.

We welcome visits from local groups, and can provide fire safety information, advice and assistance.

Drill night crew for FF Doug Whitford’s last night - 28th May 2019

Tonight saw the last drill night after 15 years service of Fire-fighter / Crew Manager Doug Whitford who finishes this Friday.
Over the last fifteen years Doug has attended several thousand calls in Bicester and across the county including the full range of fires, major flooding across the county, motorway, planes and train incidents to name just few, whilst maintaining his full time career with Oxfordshire County Council Highways and Skanska
As a station Doug - we’d like to say a big thank you for your years of service and good luck for the future - don’t be a stranger - You’ll be missed !

This afternoon one crew was called to reports of a small explosion involving an underground cable near to Scrivens Opticians in Sheep Street around 2:15pm
Crews cordoned the area which had been smoking and disturbed the concrete and made the area safe until the arrival of the Electricity board.
Apologies for any inconvenience caused !

Hours after our last post about working smoke alarms - here is the proof of how invaluable they are. We can’t emphasise how important this is !
Please read

This year we have been to several fixed smoke alarms that have been sounding off for no reason.
There are several reasons this can happen but one of the ones we are starting to see is where ten year smoke alarms are reaching the end of their life and the fixed batteries inside are exhausted.
You can check the planned life of your smoke alarm normally by a label on the side - when they expire its time to get replacements. If in any doubt a registered electrician will be able... to advise and even replace.
Please remember - working smoke alarms save lives every year - we attend alarms that undoubtedly have prevented major damage and alerted people early to small fires.

The fire at Chesterton has finally been closed and the last crews left the scene. Crews from Bicester have been out three times to the incident over the past 48 hours as well as dealing with other emergency calls in between.
We’ve been supported by crews from across the county and today this was the final act to complete the work by our Wheatley colleagues !

This evenings large incident in Chesterton being attended initially by crews from Bicester and Kidlington, and rapidly supported from multiple stations.
