We are currently recruiting for a 1st Assistant Greenkeeper to work within our team of six. As first assistant you will be working directly under the course manger and deputy course manger. You will have an input in work planning and team/course management decisions.
The successful candidate must have: ... • 2 to 5 years Greenkeeping experience • Level 2 qualification in turf management or equivalent, level 3 desirable • Hold PA1 and PA6. PA2 • Proven ability to motivate, lead and train others • Full UK Driving license

RESPONSIBLE TO: Course Manager/Deputy Course Manager
MAIN DUTIES: Under the general supervision of Golf Course Manager, the Summer Casual Greenkeeper will participate in the various tasks in which he/she is assigned.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
• To carry out under direction all the various tasks of Golf Course maintenance to which he/she is assigned.
• Operation of assigned equipment to the approved standard of use to include, equipment hygiene and understanding Health and Safety
• Assisting in various course project works to include aeration, turfing, seeding, landscaping etc.
• Participate in general maintenance of greens, tees, fairways, roughs, bunkers and clubhouse grounds.
• Responsible for maintenance and hygiene of allocated equipment for the days tasks.
• General maintenance and upkeep of the course, maintenance facility, equipment and tools
• Watering to include hand watering and basic irrigation system use as directed.
• Report to work at the designated time as directed. Work starting times are subject to change depending on the time of year and business requirements.
• Complies with BGL personnel policies and procedures and health and safety procedures
• To undertake any further duties as requested by the management.
WORKING CONDITIONS
• Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions. Employee is regularly required to stand and walk outdoors.

the staff in the pro shop is awesome. the facilities are good and the course is challenging but enjoyable. the restaurant is awesome with warm welcoming staff. the food and ingredients are of high quality..enjoyed the fish and chips with mushy peas not forgetting the superduperyummydelicious fillet steak with new potatoes and salad...thank you

What a perfect place Birchwood was to have our engagement party! From the very start of planning right until the end of our party we had the best service given by all the staff at Birchwood! I would like to give a massive thank you to Steve Visser who couldn't have done any more for us and helped us and answered every question we had. We had a seated dinner which I cannot thank the chef enough for how amazing the food was. He met our needs and catered to us in every way. We had a slightly different menu and he did it amazingly. Our guests loved the food and couldn't believe the quality and the taste of the food. The venue was perfect and I couldn't thank you all enough and I will be recommending everyone to have there parties there.

We recently had our parents 50th anniversary at birch wood. The staff were fantastic. Holly dealt with everything brilliantly and Jemma did a wonderful job in the evening making sure all our needs were met. It was a wonderful evening and we highly recommend birchwood for any event you may be thinking of having. Thank you so much from all our family and friends x x x x

Golf staff were very helpful and the course was in good condition greens bit fast for my liking but you can't keep everyone happy 😄

Will be booking again soon

Used the gym and swimming pool and sauna and steam room plus the spa absolutely brilliant very clean and the staff are top notch would highly recommend this to anyone who is looking for a change of gym

The greens are in fantastic condition, the staff are friendly and the food in the restaurant are excellent as well as value for money. I'm proud to bring family and friends here.

Recently booked for my son’s footgolf birthday party. All the staff were very efficient and helpful, from the booking process right through to the food service on the day itself. Even though some children were late arriving as there had been a major road accident , the staff were very accommodating in delaying the start time until everyone had arrived. My son and his friends had a fabulous time and I would highly recommend the footgolf parties at Birchwood.

Played the course yesterday and I must say it is in superb condition but I played many times over 20 years of golf and it never let's it's self down,staff always helpful and friendly.. So keep up the great work to all the staff...

My wife Sarah, me and our children were Lucky enough to win a Family membership at Birchwood Park on their Open Day.

Both my son and myself have been using the club for a while, for golf lessons etc.

Excellent new facilities, and feeling extremely lucky.

Lovely kept course and great staff, even throughout the winter we played on the well kept greens and no temporary tees, gives the more expensive private clubs a run for there money

Just love this place, great facilities and a great bar/restaurant. I must come here 3-4 times per week. Love it

Excellent venue for the Kent Under 14’s triangular match with Sussex & Essex.

The teams, officials and parents were made very welcome and the staff were very supportive of our need.

Great Golf Course which proved a great challenge for the players and followed up with excellent food afterwards.

We look forward to return again soon

Very nice course, club house food is good. Think bar staff must have had a long day !

I played with a society around 18 of us the course and greens were in good condition and a good golf range I would definitely recommend it. I will be paying another visit soon.

Had a lovely evening at the works Christmas party. The venue is lovely, the food okay. On the down side there needed to be more bar staff and the dance floor is too small for the amount of guests.

Normally lovely and relaxing however a function was booked for the morning in the upstairs room but the guests and children were allowed to run around singing and shouting through the building before going upstairs. Bit disappointed as went up to relax but normally it is great . Perhaps the managers could have asked them to pipe down a little. Other than that it was great

Course is fantastic. I frequently visit Birchwood if nothing else to use the driving range and putting green however we rarely play a round of golf here anymore because the tee times are oversubscribed, too many people crammed on at weekends and our last round took 6 hours which is unacceptable. Great place, good atmosphere, great practice facilities, nice food, nice staff but please employ someone who can actually organise tee time bookings and make allowances for fourballs!

This could have been a good course to play. But I'm currently sitting on the 15th and have played for just little over 4 hours!



Everyone who plays here seems to think they drive the ball 350 yards, Waiting for the fairways to completely clear.



The course is in good condition and the greens are tough and small but I cannot come back here again and look at playing a 5 hour round.

Spent all that money on the place yet can't get round the course quicker than 5 hours in peak time. Bunkers are absolutely terrible too. How can the course be in suck great condition and you leave the bunkers as they are...
