There’s nothing lovelier than the smell of freshly baked bread. Apart from the smell of your cousin’s perfume when you danced with her at that family wedding one time, but it’s not like you kissed so why did it feel like everyone was staring, and who cares if you told your best mate that you might fancy your cousin because it’s not like he’s going to tell anyone, right? Yeah... bread.

It’s a bank holiday Monday and the clouds are out. You’ve already been asked a thousand questions since 6am such as “Do crocodiles have freckles?”, “Why is lightning hot?” and “What planet do Cypriots come from?” There’s only about a week of the summer holidays left. Hold it together, parents. If you need 5 minutes of peace then bring them in and put food in their mouths. Just remember to take them away with you when they’ve finished. Happy Monday, everyone.

Due to recent posts, my boss has asked me to keep this one sensible. Here goes: Today we have a limited number of sticky toffee puddings or spotted dick, both of which come with custard. Definitely nothing funny about spotted dick...

Having wasted the morning watching back-to-back episodes of Judge Judy followed by 4 hours of Facebook stalking your ex-girlfriend because you need to see how happy she is now she’s moved on and started seeing someone else, why not pay us a visit for an ice cream, a hot meal or an engaging conversation with our staff... 😂. And if ever there were a silver lining needed on a wonderful Monday such as today, think of it like this; you’re only 6 days away from next Monday. Happy Monday, everybody.

Danger, Will Robinson! There are only 127 days left to do your Christmas shopping. To calm your annoyance at this introduction, why not try one of our new slushies? Due to recent suggestions of false advertising I have prepared a carefully worded post to promote them:
“Try a new Bluebird slushy today. They make you live longer and more attractive to the opposite sex. Not only this, but for every 20 slushies we sell, world peace increases by 15%. We can’t promise you’ll be as famous as Usain Bolt, but we can promise you’ll be able to run as fast as him on one of our slushies. Why delay, get yours today.”
Nailed it!

Anyone for a hangover cure?

Happy Thursday everyone.

After requests from a few people for our original pink and white, we have decided to keep it running. Therefore, from today, as well as our new 7 flavour whippy ice creams, you can still ask for an original Bluebird pink and white. Aren’t we good to you?

User

Wooooo Ice cream!

User

It’s finally here! The new flavours are up and running (except for chocolate which will be here soon). It’s a 2 flavour maximum at the moment until the machine is happy. Enjoy!

What do you call a single 37-year-old man with a degree in astrophysics and a job at The Bluebird? Depressed. In other news, we lament the loss of our old ice cream machine. It’s been faithful to us for many years. However, it’s time for a change. Any ideas what we should call the new 7 flavoured whippy ice cream machine? Comment below.

User

To promote our new flavours of whippy ice cream our lovely Alice dressed up as a unicorn yesterday. We didn’t ask her to do it and we’re not entirely sure of the link between ice cream and unicorns, but we find it’s easier to let her get on with it. If you can work out the link comment below. The new flavours will be up and running on the 25th of this month. This is not fake news!

Are you having to contend with an ex-wife intent on bleeding you dry? Are you struggling to deal with the onslaught of middle age and the inevitability of death? Do you need cheering up? Well look no further! COMING THIS WEEK!! From Wednesday 25th we’ll have new flavours of whippy ice cream. Mix and match till your heart’s content: Strawberry, Vanilla, Raspberry, Chocolate, Banana, Caramel and Mint.

It’s that time again where we can proudly fly St George’s cross without being accused of racism while we watch overpaid boys fall over all too easily if their hair gets knocked out of place. Good luck, England! 🙂

As the democratically voted for leader of the free and accepting country known as Russia welcomes our English football team, spare a thought for all workers across our country who have entered into a World Cup sweep stakes with less than promising results. Come on, Nigeria! And for those of you who have no interest in football; bacon sandwich.

Good afternoon and welcome to a another edition of “Bluebird’s controversial debate on a Sunday with an often tenuous link to food” on Friday. Episode 3. What’s the correct way to have your toast? Pick a number.

User

Good afternoon and welcome to a slightly late edition of “Bluebird’s controversial debate on a Sunday with an often tenuous link to food.” Yes it’s Tuesday. Sue me. Episode 2. Red or brown sauce. Discuss.

Good afternoon and welcome to a new Sunday segment we’re calling “Bluebird’s controversial debate on a Sunday with an often tenuous link to food.” Episode 1. Rusks: Baby breakfasts or enjoyed by all. Discuss. #rusks #breakfast #babies

Congratulations to Harry and Meghan. To commemorate the wedding we’ve done absolutely nothing. Whether you’re a monarchist or a republican, bacon tastes like bacon. See you tomorrow, good people of Hampshire and beyond.

User

User

The only place to go for an ice cream on the beach!

User

The best full English for miles around. Lovely friendly staff. Always a pleasure

User

Now under new ownership. So refreshing to find a coffee house that offers dairy alternatives. is the case of the Bluebird cafe - almond and soya milk. Also lovely gluten free and vegan fare available. Amazing looking cakes . Thank you Kay my gluten free cake was delicious. I will be back!

User

User

User

Fabulous cafe, great food, happy staff and we can take the dog too!

User

Down to earth traditional English cafe. Good food, good value for money, lovely big mug of tea

User

Lovely traditional cafe on the sea front. The food was home cooked and very nice and the service was really good too. Traditional menu just perfect for after a windy walk along the sea front.

User

Had nice lunch . We Was served by a lovely Young lady, who keeped trying to pinch my baseball cap. She made my dad laugh.

User

The prices have shot up, value has gone down as has service, such a lovely cafe in a great place

User

Do not rate the ice cream at all. I asked for a caramel and vanilla mixed and got mint in with it. Will not be having one of these again. Bring back the original machine. Another person went in complained and got their money back because he had the same

User

A bit disappointed to be honest. We ordered an adults sausage egg chips and beans, a child’s sausage and chips and a chicken burger. The only difference between the child’s and adults sausage meal was an egg. One sausage on an adults meal. The people are lovely but the food is a let down. It tastes cheap. Ice cream is the best though

User

Went quit q bit at one point but it's got worse and worse the kids sausage was so over cooked it was dry the fried bread is dripping in oil I took it of plate and pressed it between two napkins and they were soaked in oil and after there was still loads of oil comming of bread and as for fried mushrooms I prefer fresh mushrooms not fried tinnd mushroom

User

Well the food has never been great, but if you ever wanted a mug of tea and a cheap bacon sandwich then you know what you’re getting. One thing they always did was real butter on toast. So I order scrambled egg on toast, knowing full well the eggs will be microwaved (fine). What arrives, the expected with toast and margarine. So, this is well and truly my final visit.

User

The new ice cream is horrendous. It says mint ice cream well more like mint toothpaste/sauce. It was disgusting. Will not be having it again. Waste of money. I don’t blame the person who was behind us getting his money back

User

Me and my partner went there today for a 'mega' breakfast. It was awful, mushrooms were dry and chewy, the bacon was like cardboard, beans were mushy, eggs were burnt.we were very disappointed especially as we don't get to do it very often at all. The blue bird cafe is certainly not what it once was, we will not return.

User

Food was great however the ghastly dogs that they feel is acceptable to allow into a cafe that smell of wet dirty sea water, the sound of a whining dog in your ear whilst your trying to enjoy a full English is enough to make me not want to go back. I’m not an animal hater but from a hygiene point of view I don’t think it’s right, It’s a food premises not doggy day care.
