Alpina have always produced some serious machines capable of crossing continents at high speed and this very rare E65 B7 is no exception with its 507bhp supercharged N62 4.4 V8 engine capable of propelling it to a top speed of 186mph in refined comfort and with this being one of only 11 sold in the UK also makes this a rare sight on our roads. This F30 320i came into us with a whining noise from the engine which was quickly diagnosed as a worn oil pump sprocket which is a known issue on the N20 engine and new revised oil pump chain mechanism cured this annoying problem.

One of the stand out cars at this mornings meet at BMR was this incredibly rare Hartge H27SP. One of only 25 built worldwide, this was Herbert Hartges own demo car when new. The SP denotes the higher output 2.7 M20 engine which was down to the Individual throttle bodies unique to this model. Between the team at BMR We have worked on/driven/seen in person pretty much every type of E30 but today was a first so thanks to @joecourtney92 for bringing it today.

Caught just in time, another set of worn rod bearings replaced on this E92 M3. A carbon front splitter and a track spec set up on our Hunter wheel alignment system had this M3 ready to hit the track.

BMW E30’s are a very common sight at BMR as we are arguably the UK’s most knowledgable garage on these iconic cars, certainly in the South. This stunning Schwartz chrome bumper 325iSE fitted with the M tech 1 body kit from new has been in the same family since 1991 passed down through generations. This week we completed some routine maintenance such as an inspection 2 service, timing belt replacement and some much needed replacement of aged rubber fuel and coolant hoses. Duri...ng adjustment of the valve clearances It was discovered the M20B25 engine was still fitted with the original Hex head cylinder head bolts which were prone to breaking off and causing potential terminal damage to the engine. These were replaced by us with the later torx head bolts to prevent this issue from happening.

Alpina automobiles are a regular site at BMR but sometimes a rarity visits us. This LHD F11 B5 Biturbo touring came in for rear shock absorber replacement after they were picked up on an MOT. Featuring EDC (electronic damper control) they needed encoding to the car which at the same time a software update was carried out.
