Bramleys are excited to have Work8hop jazz octet back again this coming month to give us some more of their contemporary jazz sound.
"Workshop is a contemporary jazz octet who champion creative, fresh compositions and arrangements both from it's members and the jazz artists they admire and draw inspiration from.
Workshop was formed in 2016 by jazz saxophonist Matthew Miles as a collective of jazz musicians and improvisers based in the South East. Their aim is to provide a pla...tform to experiment with writing and arranging for a chamber jazz Orchestra. Each month we get together to ‘workshop’ each other’s compositions playfully experimenting with instrumentation, textures and harmony. Each member of the group brings their own personality, influences and compositional style to the music we play together. The result is contemporary jazz octet with a fresh sound but which continues the traditions of exploration and collaboration that charactise jazz." http://www.workshopjazz.co.uk/

A night of Canterbury brewed indie and songwriting at Bramleys Bar!
-Medicine Club- Canterbury based classic guitar driven indie rock with an 80s vibe. Influences include Interpol, Bloc Party, Radiohead and the Cure.
... -The Primals- Drawing influence from 2000s indie, Addison’s deep baritone vocals and strong guitar licks drive the sound with these guys.
-Kieron Stone- High energy singer/songwriter Kieron Stone is a force to be reckoned with. An incredible stage presence, great songwriter and all round gentleman.
-O Mataeus- An ex-chorister and classically trained cellist, the music of O Mataeus is as passionate as it is dark and troubled as he explores human emotional connection through his songwriting.

Two middle-aged fogies there with student daughter. Been there twice now...love the cocktails, decor and atmosphere. Staff could not have been nicer, nor more efficient.

I trust the complainers in a recent post discussed it calmly with the staff at the time. That's how feedback works. I have no patience with those who stew and moan after the event.

Lucky to have live jazz in town. Interesting drinks. Lovely music.

It was last night and I was with a group of girlfriends, mixture of young and mature ladies! Never had porn star Martini before but they were amazing!! Served by nice guy with ponytail and his service was very great. It was pretty quiet because of the snow but we enjoyed ourselves !! Music was good and the ambience as well. Made us feel welcome!

Thanks!

I’m a massive fan of porn star martinis now!!!

The only reason this is a 3 is because of the door staff that was on Saturday 23rd December around 8.30pm

In terms of the actual place the atmosphere was lovely and the bar staff are incredible at their jobs and making the cocktails just right if they were the only people I encountered it would be an easy 5*

So back to the door staff I was having a catch up with an old friend who I hadn’t seen due to my business taking off and going crazy over the last few months he suggested going to Bramleys because of how great the cocktails were we arrived at the venue for the doorman to not even look at us for about 2 mins (the high street was empty) and then turn around and say ‘Have you got girls waiting for you on the inside?’ To which we replied no as we were just after a catch up in a quiet bar

He then turned around and said ‘Are you guys here on a date on something?!’ In quite an aggressive homophobic tone.

Now me and my friend are both heterosexuals but what difference would it make why we decide to visit a bar?

He did let us in eventually but it ruined the experience.

A different doorman was there on exit (The confrontational one came into the bar several times) who was very polite.

I’ve worked quite closely with right guard security over the years and had them man a few of our events so I will try and find out the name of the doorman as it really doesn’t reflect what’s on the inside.

While I know that all right guard doormen are freelancers if their was a way of picking and choosing you have to get rid of this one
