Fancy yourself clever? If you can balance 20p on a lemon, we'll give you a free drink! Plus, it's for a great cause, as the proceeds go to charity!
So far we've raised more than £20 for Sobell House Hospice, a cause near and dear to our hearts. At the end of August, we will ask you to help us choose a new charity to support, so stay tuned, and try your luck!

Have you tried all our new Summer cocktails yet? Only £4.95 Monday-Friday! Which one is your favourite?

We have visited Brown's Oxford on a few occasions now, including my graduation. Each time has been perfect in every way from the service to the food. Always a favourite for us!

User

Stunning food, all piping hot and served promptly. The waiters and waitresses are very polite and friendly. I absolutely love this place and will continue to visit when we are in oxford. Keep up the amazing service and quality of food guys . We always enjoy every moment whenever we visit

Popped in for a cocktail first visit since a May Day morning breakfast years ago with my brother who was at Green College at the time. Could not resist a visit before returning to Cheshire. Fab cocktail and a coffee for the chauffeur ☕️🍹😊

I went in for a quick cocktail just before closing. The cocktails were superb! Made with skill and patience. The barman said he was new to the role! Great future ahead of him if can produce cocktails at that level already.

We asked if it was possible to have some desserts in the bar. The kitchen was closed but the manager went out of his way to serve them anyway. They did not disappoint. Fantastic!

Visited again for brunch this morning. Again very very good. Cappuccino was a little small.

Bad Points are it's starting to look a bit tired. The paint work is marked heavily and the men's toilets are not great. No better than the average pub. One of the tap was broken and the soap pump didn't work. It looked as if it needed a good clean. Shame.

My son had great starter and mains and would give 5. I had a ok starter and ok mains. Slow cooked belly of pork was a bit chewy and needed a bit more slow cooking, beans were slightly underdone. The Jus and potatoes were amazing. Would give 3.5/4 overall if that was allowed. The service was good and the restaurant looks lovely. Would definitely go again if nearer!!

User

Over priced for mediocre food. Fish and chips - fish skin on, bones in. Steak and Guinness pie - a bit of beef and some carrots in a sea of thin gravey, nice bubble and squeak but poor presentation. Good service though!

After booking a table for 5 people over a week ago, on arrival we were shown to a bistro table not big enough for four people. I complained and they did move us. The service let it down as had to look around and wave to get attention however the food was good. I think the restaurant is a victim of its own success as I have been going to Browns for over 25 years. Years ago they had lots of student staff but well overseen by managers where as now it looks like just student staff with little guidance... a shame in my opinion as they are obviously taking the money ?

User

Well what an awful experience this afternoon . After booking an afternoon tea for a group of six, we were presented with rock hard scones, mince pies with barely any filling, the tiniest of savoury items with little filling. A few of our party had explained they didn't like one flavour of sandwich but instead if being provided with extra of other flavours, they just had the disliked ones removed yet charged the same?!?! When the bill came we were horrified to see that we had been charged £18.95 As opposed to the £14.50 We had seen advertised. It turns out we had been given the more pricey festive afternoon tea. We were at no point made aware of the two various options. We merely booked an afternoon tea. And given the festive afternoon tea. When we questioned this with the waitress, she was very unaccomodating and didn't even offer for us to speak to a manager etc. Basically lump it and pay!! The service throughout was awful. No courtesy "how's the food?" "Do you need more tea etc?"

I will certainly not be returning here. What an absolute rip off!! £19 for 3 sandwiches, two rocks, and some pastry with a small covering of something resembling mincemeat?!

Well not much to say really the waiter was serving us didn’t know what was bourbon, when I asked for the list and ordered Woodford reserve he didn’t know that either, food wasn’t to bad but it was lukewarm been going there since 1976 but never seen it this much run down

I know there is a shortage of employees but they should be trained to do job

We have been going to Browns for years and years and this was by far the most disappointing visit we have had. Booked for 11 people we see shown to our table quickly and served drinks very efficiently. We ordered just main courses and I chose the Steak and Guinness pie as this was always a great favourite of mine. In fact four of us decided to have the pie on my recommendation! It came quickly and was hot however the pie was lacking in meat and full of vegetables all cooked in a very thin watery, tomato gravy! It was poor and not as described on the menu! My son’s girlfriend complained as the meat in hers was actually inedible! We were pleased it was taken off the bill at the end, however she was still hungry as it was served with only a few chips and no veg or even garnish insight! I certainly won’t return in a hurry, so disappointed that one of my all time favourite dishes in one of my favourite restaurants was so inadequate 😔

User

Very disappointed with the 'festive' afternoon tea. Despite minor changes from the 'normal' afternoon tea - replacing a chicken filling with turkey and a measly filled mince pie - the price had been hiked up to £18.95! The scones were hard and difficult to cut. Feel totally ripped off. The service was poor, my party of 6 had to grab the waitress's attention for refreshments to be topped up. Our complaints fell on deaf ears and the manager didn't have the courtesy to sort these out personally. Definitely would not recommend.

Service is terrible and the construction site workers who are redoing the bathrooms are swearing at the customers.
