Its a great place to go fishing took my 7 year old grandson we had a great time.

Had a day ticket on the 10th April on the Old Lake as normally fish the smaller ones, chose Peg 33 as that number is quite significant to me although I didn't catch a Carp which was my intention I had setup for a rod for a carp rig and a rod for feeder and had some nice sized Breams. The weather was perfect and the lake was very tranquil, personally to me fishing is a get away from everything else whether I catch or not. I am not the most accomplished fisherman and tbh spend too much time watching Danny Fairbrass and the Korda crew with rigs and rods and buckets of bait thinking I can emulate their catches. I like Bury Hill for its location it's choice of lakes, it's got a nice small cafe with nice hot food, shop is a little small compared to Marsh Farm or others but unlike Tywnersh Fisheries at least it has one. Had an enjoyable day talking to a couple of other anglers as well as a small quantity of bream. If i had of blanked then at least I wasn't in an office full of Wally's making my day miserable looking forward to going back soon

Great place to predator fish, always catch. Not too far from us, definitely return.

Great day out, had some lovely bream and tench out of the old lake, staff very friendly. Could do with being a bit cheaper for 2 rods and swims being a bit further apart, could do with banning bait boats due to a couple of carp anglers putting their baits to the island in our swims without asking because we couldn't quite reach the island. Other than that a great day out and the geese were also extremely friendly even eating out of my hand at points. Definitely will be back soon.

Best fishing lakes ever!! My son only started fishing and we are not local but not too far either, really worth coming even just for the afternoon. Beautiful surroundings, lovely people!! Great for a family day out too just to walk around the woods and around the lakes whilst my son is catching large carps...!!

Lovely place , did not catch anything but saw some real biggies swimming around. Also other people pulling out some monsters

Went yesterday, Weather has been up and down, slow to start with, Only caught later in the afternoon, Swim 10/11 front bank, float fishing with meat in the margins, 10 bream 5lb-7lb (bigger ones were weighed). Lost big carp hook pulled out after a 10 mins fight......

Used to be a great fishery (I've been going for nearly 40 years) but just hasn't moved with the times, catches have severely decline so yesterday I decided to join Dorking AS in order to visit their waters whenever I want to and not have to buy a season ticket for Bury Hill in the future.

User

Nice place / fished two lakes four rods between us / multiple rigs = 1 bloody bream all day !!! Must have been conditions as others weren't catching either / time of year as we've fished there before and done catching carp on sweet corn/ frustrating day but a nice place

I personally love this lake and have been a member for a few years now. If I owned the lake there would be a few changes I would make which I think would improve the lake.

1. Offer several membership options such as yearly all inclusive / winter option or pay as you go.

2. Offer food deliveries to swims - breakfast lunch and dinner- some venues offer this service and it means you can concentrate on the fishing and not have to walk 10mins for cafe. If the option to provide food is a problem then sub-let to someone who would make money from it- these little cafes can turn over good money if run right. I would gladly bring money for a breakfast and dinner and not worry about lugging all my food equipment with me. Provide bins and keep the site clean from vermin.

3. Net the old lake and show us what is available to catch- remove the bream.

4. Better swims with more space - remove the current ones and replace for bark.

5. Crayfish removal.

6. Keep the shop open and price competitively-save anglers buying before they arrive so they don't get stripped up.

I think with a few little adjustments and setting up a comments box and listening to the anglers themselves rather than worrying about money this lake could be one of the best . Maybe it requires new management.

If I was to be offered a yearly ticket I would buy one now at the right price - rather than getting a hit every time I go.

Food for thought .......

I do fish this place a bit but today I was a bit shocked. Arrived at 7am. Went to bonds to fish for carp and after about 30 mins a worker at the fishery arrived in his pick up truck and started to throw 3 large bucket loads of pellets/feed into the lake spread over 6 pegs then drove off. This must have been about 1o-15 kilos of pellets. I decided to stay as I was on the other side but only caught 5 in 7h.30mins. Other anglers who arrived during the morning/early afternoon did not catch. Fished method feeder and normally catch 10+. Fishing there has got worse over time and I wonder if this is the reason why.
