Our elegant ‘Tarte Au Citron’ has a sweet and sharp lemon flavour that marries perfectly with Normandy crème fraiche, raspberries and melt-in-the-mouth pastry case.

We went for an early meal at 5.30pm. The service was first class and the food was excellent. We will be coming back to try some of the other delicious dishes on the menu.

We are very partial to Côte Brasserie restaurants and have tried several of their branches in various locations. They never fail to impress us and Godalming was no exception!

From the moment my guests arrived we were warmly greeted and then given a choice of two tables to choose from! Our server sat us down and took our order for drinks. This duly arrived promptly and we ordered our starters. Calamari, beetroot salad and mushroom in a filo pastry, all simply scrumptious! Our mains was the ever faithful Fish Parmentier, Rib Eye Steak and Tuna Steak. All served in due course but sadly for the first time ever I had an issue with the Rib Eye. At this point I must emphasise that this is no reflection on the chefs part or indeed Côte. Being a BBQ chef myself, I have come across beef which sometimes can be a bit of a problem. Having pointed this out to our server who was extremely apologetic and suggested I try another one as this cut could have been a problem.

I agreed and in due course not too long after another was produced. This was cooked in exactly the same manner i.e. Rare to medium and was absolutely perfect!

In closing I'd like to thank the manager and our lady server in particular for making the whole experience enjoyable! Well done Côte and please keep up the high standard of food and indeed the service you provide!

The welcome, the staff and the atmosphere was perfect to celebrate my mum's 81st birthday. As soon as we sat down the kir royales arrived and everything was great. Thank you

User

Sunday lunch for my husbands birthday, really happy experience. Lovely meal and atmosphere. Service was excellent and prices very fair. Will be going again soon.

User

Not been open too long, but a very busy place already! The staff are wonderful and I absolutely love the decor; Godalming needed more modernising & this is a good place to start

User

Love the food, the atmosphere, the setting and the service.

Thank you so much for the added touches to last night's dinner - it made my birthday meal extra special!

User

Had a lovely breakfast here with my sister and little nephew.

Not only was the breakfast nice (very good French toast!) but the staff were brilliant.

Sadly I didn't catch the waitresses name but she was so good with my little nephew; bought us a high chair, colouring bits and pieces and even walked around with him showing him about the place.

They were very attentive and completely made our 'quick breakfast'.

It's also in a lovely old building with lots of character.

User

Best calamari I've ever had in my life. I came here with my partner for a date night and a break from our daughter and I couldn't have asked for a better evening. The Rosé wine was absolutely delicious.

Through the whole meal I just had a huge smile on my face. The staff treated us SO well! Extremely welcoming and helpful. Really really happy with my experience at Côte!

User

The food was marvelous as was my company, my only concern is that my friend was going outside to have a smoke, but someone came out to her and said she could not do that there, outside. A few feet away there are bus stops, and people smoking there. I was greatly offended because we did ask when we arrived if it would be alright and was told yes. But once we had ordered our food all changed.

User

Our first visit.. will definitely go back. Greeted at the door and coats taken - rare these days - and service throughout was very good. Food was lovely, although we sent my wifes back as her potato was cold (despite the very hot plates). They sorted that no problem and we enjoyed a tasty pudding too. We didn't mention it but on producing the bill, they'd taken dw's main off the bill. Very decent of them and unexpected. A great addition to the 'ming high street!

User

Chain restaurant which can be a iffy, but in this case it equals consistency in portion size and high quality which is always a good thing Friendly discrete staff. The only downside is the price of wine by the glass So, if you're not driving buy the bottle !!!

User

Very disappointed with the food - 5 of us eating & all five main courses had to be sent back (I have never done this before) the replacements were better and hot. The staff were wonderful although very embarrassed they were very apologetic. They were extremely generous in that we were given a big discount on our food & didn't pay for our drinks (not expected at all) but such a shame this happened because Cote has been consistently good over the years but hearing more and more bad reports

User

Staff very attentive and friendly. Lots of choices for lunch. The fougasse was lovely, and my dining partner had the charcuterie platter which he said was good. He ordered the haddock wrapped in bacon on Puy lentils which he enjoyed; I went for the cod goujons with frites which was a bit disappointing. I should've tried something more adventurous. However, I loved the atmosphere and beautiful interior uses the listed building really well. I will definitely go back again -- and order something more exciting next time!

User

Lovely place...staff excellent...food only average and over priced..shame this could be a brilliant venue.

User

Food was disappointing but we did complain and we didn't pay a bill. Staff fantastic though and will give it another go.

User

Although the food was very average and overpriced it did taste ok, my garnish of water cress looked like it had been taken off of someone else's plate ! It looked dead! The portion of prawns was not worth the money and my friends half a chicken looked like a quarter! Oh I didn't pay the service charge or leave a tip as not one member of staff actually used their natural ability to smile at any of the customers that came through the door smile it costs nothing and means such a lot

User

Usually love Côte at different venues but today we went for a first time pre booked Birthday breakfast for the father in law and family. V. Slow service although plenty of staff and not many customers. Many drinks orders had to be asked for several times before they arrived. One food order completely missed and turned up a good 25 mins late, my poached eggs were hard all the way through, others were runny. One persons scrambled eggs were cold through. Some orange juice were watered down and some not. A Bloody Mary came without a Vodka added. It was one thing after another leaving everyone feeling frustrated and wished we had gone elsewhere.

They did scrap the bill and give us complimentary Buck's Fizz but get it right the first time and this wouldn't happen. Met a friend on the way out who said they didn't pay either as service and food so bad!

In fairness some of the food was good and some of the staff were nice, although the original waitress was taken off our table and vanished due to mistakes! We felt sorry for her because she was very nice and didn't think it was all her fault!

User

When we arrived there we're no highchairs available or booster seats, not even a pot of crayons for the children. Luckily my little one is well behaved but I would of liked to have had a high chair or a cushion at least. What made us laugh was the "complimentary tap water in a posh bottle" very generous! Food was nice sparse, but nice.

User

We booked a table at cote on Saturday were given menu straight away waited 20 mins before they took a drink order then ordered our food . Waited an hour for our first course . This didn't come as they tried to give us our main course, sent this away waited a further 20 mins and they then tried to give us mains again !! Eventually we did get our food which was good but service was dreadful . The manager did give us a free meal to compensate but we were in the restaurant for 2.5 hours and was too late to go anywhere else
