To Celebrate all the lovely Mums, we are having our Mothers Day Afternoon tea on Saturday the 30th of March. We will be having two seatings which will be at 12pm and 2:30pm, please book now to reserve a seat for that special someone! 🎂💕

Another Valentines treat this year will be our valentines cupcakes. They are vanilla sponge with strawberry jam and raspberry ripple buttercream decorated in the style of red roses and white rose florets. We will be able to arrange 6 of them in a bouquet for you with heart tissue paper and a box. These will cost £12.95 and again please last orders will be 12pm tomorrow for latest 3:30pm pickup. We have always offered Outside catering, but over this past year, we have been expanding those services. Due to this development, we are now able to offer our Afternoon teas which can include savoury as well as the sweet, the delivery to a venue of your choice and the hire of our vintage china. Alongside this, we have also started to offer a full Wedding catering service. Tailored to your individual needs, we offer a private, no obligation consultation. Additionally we offer the hire of our tearoom which can hold up to 24 seated people. And is privately available on a Sunday, this can be for Birthdays, Baby showers, wakes etc. Please call the shop on 01273 504319 for any no obligation quotes 🎂

Just a reminder of our themed Afternoon teas. We are still offering the option to have Afternoon tea in the style of Peter Rabbit, Alice in wonderland and even mary poppins!
When you arrive for your afternoon tea, your table will be laid with our vintage china and where possible will be themed. Sandwiches, cakes and scones galore will also all be in the style of the theme of your choice e.g Queen of heart tarts, Red roses, Cheshire cat Shortbread, Flamingo Meringues and pla...ying card brownies as just an idea of what is included.
These themes are perfect for Baby Showers, Birthdays, Hen do’s and parties alike which we can hire the tearoom out for you and your guests, as decorated in one of the pictures below
Of course you are more than welcome to choose the option of one of our famous original sweet or savoury afternoon teas too. All Afternoon Teas will be the same price of £19.95 per person or £9.95 for a child aged 11 and under.

Winter warmers for the new year. Steak and Guinness pies or our vegetarian mushroom and cashew parcels served with sweet potato fries or potato wedges. We also have our famous soups, today's is French onion. All of the above are lovingly homemade on our premises of course.

Another alternative to our traditional Christmas cakes/ puddings at Cakes the Difference are our Luxurious Chocolate Figgy Puddings. They are priced at £24.95. They make ideal presents as we will decorate them on a board and wrapped in a box for you 🎄

Christmas just wouldnt be, without one of our gift wrapped Christmas puddings! They are available to order over the phone or to buy straight away if you pop into the shop. There are large and medium sizes this year and are priced £12.50 and £10.50 respectively. But please hurry as we have a limited amount and wouldn't want anyone missing out 🎄🎄

The cakes are great as are the meals. Inside it is tiny, but outside there is loads of room over looking the green. The food is all locally sourced, with unusual new local cheeses for the Ploughman's. Tradies often stop off there for a take out lunch/coffee. This place is closed on Sundays.

What a wonderful afternoon we've just had for my Mum's 60th birthday! The effort and attention to detail made on every level is just phenomenal....from the delicate china, to the friendly service and best of all the cakes! So many varieties it was impossible to try them all. This didn't matter however as we were kindly provided with takeaway boxes for all we had left and have now taken this home to enjoy the ones we couldn't manage! Thank you to Denise and her team for helping us make fantastic memories on my mums 60th! We'll certainly be back whenever we're down this way.

What a lovely afternoon! We booked our reservation through Harriet, who was very helpful and accommodating. My friend didn't eat some of the sandwich fillings so Harriet offered alternatives. We were greeted with a beautifully laid table in the sunshine, which also had the umbrella up ready to shade my baby. Harriet also offered us a highchair. Although inside would be as lovely if it wasn't sunny. We were spoiled with sandwiches, a huge array of delicious cakes and treats as well as bottomless tea! A lovely experience, location and fabulous staff who go out of their way to accommodate your needs. Highly recommended! Love Stacey, Jess and baby Elodie!

We had afternoon tea, it was amazing the presentation of the food was lovely as was the table, the sandwiches were varied so good choice and tasty! The cakes that followed were gorgeous served on a 3 tier cake stand lots of variation and lots of them, had to take some home so the experience could carry on!! The staff are friendly & helpful a lovely afternoon!

We googled somewhere to have afternoon tea in Brighton and this was recommend. We arrived to a very cute sign with our name on and a very friendly welcome. Beautiful china was on our table and the staff were very attentive. The sandwiches were lovely and presented beautifully. Then came the cakes and scones 😊 I have never seen so many and stunning cakes on one stand we were spoilt for choice even after telling them we had a nut allergy. We had an amazing time and the staff were great. Denise the owner was on hand the whole time making sure all of her customers we looked after. What a fantastic afternoon. Would highly recommend a visit 😊😊😊

This place is tiny! However that makes for a very attentive experience� The staff want u to kick back and take your time whilst enjoying their culinary delights. A lovely cream tea, very generous portions, you WILL take some cakes home with you! If you want the afternoon cream tea you have to let them know at least 48hrs in advance (I didn’t know this and when I rang the day before to confirm my table and happened to mention it then they pulled out the stops to make it happen for me) Also, if like me you didn’t get but were really looking forward to the sausage roll as shown on the website photos, you’ll have to book the ‘savoury’ cream tea. So obviously I’ll be going back for that then�

It was worth it tho, the fig frangipan was delicious, a hot pot of tea each with cute little tea pots. It's best to book tho, it was fully booked and they do catering so very busy little place. Just returned from a beautiful afternoon spent here having afternoon tea with a friend.

Such a lovely experience....firstly a choice of teas or coffee, freshly made finger sandwiches of salmon,ham,egg and cucumber and cream cheese.

Then an array of delicious homemade cakes, scones with jam and clotted cream.

The decor is delighful and the staff are very friendly, nothing is to much trouble and they make you feel very welcome and not at all rushed. Just how an afternoon tea should be!

I can thoroughly recommend cakes the difference...especially for a birthday or special event!

I've been lucky enough to have tasted a great deal of Denise's food, it is second to none. Afternoon tea was as I suspected - absolutely gorgeous! Denise also made my beautiful wedding cake along with several of my daughters birthday cakes...she is an extremely talented lady. I urge you all to get to cakes the difference ASAP!

Had the most amazing afternoon tea, staff were very attentive, looked after from the moment we stepped through the door, as for the afternoon tea its self beautiful assortment of sandwiches scones and cakes such a variety was difficult to know where to begin, the ones we couldn't managed were boxed up for us to take up, highly recommend and will be definitely going back
