What a lovely place to stay, the owners where the kindest people ever and Rachel who was helping out made us feel so welcome. they all couldn't have done anymore to make our stay fab. They were amazing with our two kids, and the campsite was kept so clean. Thank you, we will be back for sure. I would recommend this campsite to others, the owners and staff should be proud of the great job they all do.

User

We had two lovely nights here where the hosts were just superb. My Grandson loved exploring and seeing the goats and chickens. Lovely little touches like toiletries in the bathroom, magazines and books on hand, a microwave and a freezer to use. A tv was set up for us to watch the World Cup semi finals too.

A brand new ladies bathroom is about to open so even more improvements are to come. We loved it.

User

We decided to stay here for our 1st trip out with our new caravan as we love this area.

The staff on the site were all very nice and friendly and asked us if we needed any help etc. The campsite is very well kept and the plots are plenty big enough. There's plenty of open space for the kids to play and the amenities are very good. We will definitely be returning here for our short stay weekends as it's only 30 miles away from our home.

User

We chose this site as it was the first time we were trying our new (to us!) trailer tent and it’s only 40 mins from home if it all went wrong!

Initially we arrived just as it was about to torrential rain so the office staff were Uber efficient and ensure we got to our pitch quickly so we could attempt a fast erection. It didn’t work. Even my knickers were wet! But that’s hardly their fault!! Ha.

Next day we packed away and tried again (we were a bit wonky in our haste the night before). The staff came over to check we were ok and offered to help several times. We had a few teething problems such as problems with our gas bottle - they tried to help and even offered to cook our breakfast for us or loan us a gas bottle!

The toilets and showers were clean, great facilities such as a microwave and hairdryer were on offer and the shop had all the essentials.

The staff were literally the nicest people I’ve ever met.

I was shocked when I read some of the reviews left earlier in the week. They were one big group and it seems like a bit of a witch hunt to me. I really hope it doesn’t impact on this business.

Hope to head back before the end of the summer to this site again

User

The staff here are lovely. We didn’t have a long enough electric cable and our tent pump broke so they lent us theirs for the week. Also our car broke down and they drove us to the garage to pick our car up once fixed.

Can’t recommend highly enough.

Also, they have just opened a new toilet and shower block.

They have an Indian take away that delivers to your pitch and a chip van on site on Friday evenings.

We will definitely go back soon!

User

Spent 3 nights here this week and wished we had booked for longer we had a lovely time. Was part of a group that went, 3 tents both with 2 adults 2 children In each. Shower block is clean and tidy and the family room is a nice size too. The washing area is spacious. There's a little shop on site thats well stocked, perfect for the essentials. The fish pond was a fab touch the kids went and fed the fish daily(food bought from the shop) the staff are very friendly always happy to help and made us feel very welcome. Thankyou for having us! We will be definatly booking to come back x

User

My husband , dog and I stayed here for two nights. We can honestly say that from the initial welcome on site and being taking to our tent pitch was such a friendly touch. Nothing was to much trouble, clean tidy excellently well kept. Thankyou to Judy, Rachel and even Ray loved our chats. Highly recommend . Ingrid and Austin xx

Me, my partner and our puppy booked a 2 night stay here. Could not have asked for a better weekend. Staff were lovely from the moment we booked over the phone to the moment we left.

Camp site lovely and clean and all facilities were really nice and clean. Especially the toilets and showers. A little shop available in case you’ve forgot bits and bobs.

Chip van and Ice cream van making visits during our stay was a lovely idea. Many options with takeaways and local pubs to eat if we wanted to lots of information provided in the hut with things to do.

This camp site welcomed our dog as much as us, with a dog walk path and field, dog showers with shampoo provided, water, poo bags and treats available. He’s definitely enjoyed himself too

Had a lovely weekend and We will definitely be back!

User

Just left after a fantastic weekend. Wonderful friendly site where you are made to feel welcome from the minute you arrive and nothing is too much trouble. Lovely quiet site. Friday fish n chip van served the best fish I have tasted in a very long time. Dog walk brill and such a wonderful bonus for us dog owners. I cannot speak highly enough of this site and will be back. Thank you to every one

User

Just arrived home from carsington fields, had a fantastic four days this place is a little piece of heaven. I highly recommend you try this site the staff cannot do enough for you even to going out of there way to get you a newspaper if they go shopping. Pete and Judy are two of the nicest and friendly people you could meet and nothing is to much trouble for them. So if you want to enjoy a lovely week or weekend I highly recommend this little gem.

User

I have recently visited the site and have nothing but praise and admiration for the stunning job the owners have done to the site, and can understand why they are able to celebrate 25years. Throughout my stay the facilities are comfortable and clean allowing our group a relaxing and stress free trip! I just also mention the friendliness of the owners; Peter and Judy who would always go above and beyond regarding any request!

The use of space for all visitors; from caravans, to tents is brilliant allowing for a warm and friendly feel. I for one thoroughly enjoyed my stay at Carsington fields, and would recommend anyone to visit! I will be planning on returning as soon as possible.

User

Having recently purchased a folding camper to try out as a family ( 2 adults, 2 children and 2 dogs) we chose Carsington Fields for our first outing. We would highly recommend thid site. Booking was easy over the phone. The site was very clean and well presented. We were very impressed with the dog walking facilities, the site has poo bags and hand sanitiser situated at several points which was a nice touch. The location is brilliant and is walking distance from Carsington Water.

The staff on site were amazing!! they went the extra mile to help!! my husband hurt his back during our stay and the staff on site came over to help us out when packing up, they did this wihout any request from ourselvee..this was really appreciated with having a baby, 7 year old and dogs.

We will definitely be going back and would highly recommend this site!!

User

Can’t find fault with this site, we have been several times now and my children love the freedom of being able to play safely. Always found it clean and tidy. the owners are the most friendly and helpful people that treat everyone with respect and will go out there to make sure everyone is happy they even helped park our caravan up when we was beginners and was struggling.

User

Absolutely amazing campsite and the staff on site are equally as amazing. Upon arrival I’d forgotten forgotten a glass and without me even asking I was loaned a wine glass for the weekend . The facilities are always kept clean, to a high standard and the onsite shop has everything you could need for the weekend at reasonable prices. The site itself is Idyllic. There are goats, ducks and fish. You can buy fish food from the shop and watch the Carp take on the ducks . The area is also beautiful with plenty of walks around the reservoir and there plenty of local pubs to visit. The staff recommended a pub for lunch with the dog and made a reservation for us. We love this place soo much we’re going back in a couple of weeks .

User

A clean a tidy site. Hard standing nice and even. Allow side on parking which is nice but leaves little gap from awnings of neighbour to caravan.

Shop stocks essentials, lend out toys which is great. What makes this site stand out is the little extras such as dog poop bags, fixed benches around the site, dog biscuits etc.

They could have crammed a load more pitches on but instead opted to keep the wide open spaces which encourage outdoor play and make the site feel spacious.

Free WiFi, free showers (with free shampoo etc), great group of site assistants who go out of their way to check you are ok.

We enjoyed our stay here, the vibe was relaxed and friendly and the location is brilliant for the reservoir, Ashbourne and surrounding areas.

Would recommend to anyone.

Worst campsite ever, I have been camping for 30 years and never have myself, family or friends been treated with such hostile contempt. We are used to keeping noise levels down after a certain time and so after being 'warned' on arrival of their zero tolerance to noise policy we made sure to keep it down. Little did we know that their 'zero tolerance' also extended to children and families in general. On both nights they marched on to the field making a beeline for our children and shouting and being aggressive towards them. Both my children aged 8 and 11 were in tears begging to go home and some of the other children were very distressed from our group and the very nice group of families that we shared the field with. Due to the events of this first night we were walking on egg shells and so being vigilant of behaviour, noise etc. This is when I spotted one of the male owners/workers standing in the bottom corner of the field watching our children play. All very disturbing. This review doesn't even scratch the surface of our shocking experience. Oh and for the record we very much have a pack in/pack out mentality and always but always leave a site as or better than we find it. So you can imagine our disgust at having to pick up cigarette ends off the field on our arrival.

User

Such a shame this site was let down by the aggressive owner on our much looked forward to family camping weekend with 6 other families. Her attitude towards our group was rude and completely unnecessary and, as we found out during our stay, was also the way she treated another large group of families staying near to us. The absolutely no noise policy after 10.30 was actually so strictly enforced much earlier by being spoken to in a condescending and hostile manner.

Many of the children in our party were visibly upset by her behaviour and we all considered leaving after the 1st night.

We have been camping as a large group every year for the last 6 years and never come across this treatment or had an problems before.

I appreciate there are some positive reviews on the site and I can only assume that it is groups of families that causes such objection.

User

I have never done a review before for anywhere but I am so disgusted by this weekend's events that I felt the need to. I have never been made to feel so uncomfortable or unwanted as I did here. We were a group of 7 families with children. We camped on the upper field where there was another big group with children. Everyone in our field got along and the children all played together beautifully. All sounds so idylic! We were advised of the no noise policy when we arrived and so were very concious of it. At 10.30 on the Friday night some of the chidren were in bed and some were playing cards quietly in a tent. At that point the owners were walking round and shouted at the children to be quiet. We were sat there and the noise was not loud. In addition if there was an issue with the children the owners should have approached us to speak to the children. They advised us that they could speak to our children however they likes as it was their site. Friday night was very uncomfortable and many of the children were crying and asking to go home. I myself wanted to leave as i felt so uncomfortable. However we decided to stay and make the most of a beautiful weekend. Saturday night came about and the kids were already showing signs of being anxious due to the imminent inspection by the owners! At 10.10 the owners came on to the field and told the children to start quietining down. The rules clearly stated 10.30 and this was just unneccessary and the way in which it was done was confrontational.

This may not sound like much but the overall atmosphere created by the owners was such that the children were in tears most of the time.

The owners must have known when we booked in as a group of 7 and the other group were a group of 13 that there would be numerous children and people wishing to socialise. Within the field we were on everyone was happy and no one had an issue with what little noise was being made. We were at the top end of that field and no one else was around us.

The whole thing could have been avoided if a differing approach had been adopted from the outset.
