Catherine House is our newly opened student residence in Portsmouth – right in the middle of the city centre, so it’s perfect if you want to be within easy reach of everything.
Portsmouth & Southsea railway station is literally next door, Victoria Park (the oldest green space in the city) is just over the road, the Cascades Shopping Centre and Tesco Superstore are each about two minutes’ walk away, and then the main University of Portsmouth campus is a seven-minute walk at the most.
At Catherine House you can choose between two options: a private en-suite room within a shared apartment (3, 4, 5 & 6 bed flats) or your very own studio or 1-bed flat.
Your rent will cover pretty much everything except food and drink:
- All your water, gas and electric
- Your heating (especially handy in the winter, considering you’re by sea! )
- Lightning-quick broadband and Wi-Fi
- TV (which will be in your shared kitchen space if you’re in an apartment)
- Access to the on-site laundry room (super-handy, as you’ll see)
- 24-hour security service
- Fast maintenance if you ever need it
- Postal service
- Common Room with games tables
- Access to the Sky Lounge

Behind us, we have Victoria Park, where you can go to clear your head, relax, and even get a suntan! (Disclaimer: weather results may vary 😉 )
Round the corner we have the Guildhall, the venue for many a concert or event, and Guildhall Walk - an essential stop for any club trip!
... However, if you don't want to go that far, we have Pryzm Nightclub right across the road, guaranteed to give you a good night out, and Fit4Less Gym - get those gains without breaking the bank!

Stayed here last night as my daughter was attending the Open Day today. I would just like to relay my sincere thanks to a great guy called Euan (apologies if incorrect name) but he was so welcoming & friendly & a really genuinely nice person. He showed us the ‘Sky Lounge’ and really helped Maddie feel at ease and recognised she felt a bit overwhelmed by the whole uni concept. Thank you!
Loved the sky lounge ! And the staff were great 👍🏼 thanks for hosting our university staff training day we all enjoyed ourselves even to queue for the one toilet haha cheers guys !
For my first year of University, I couldn't have asked for better accommodation to settle me into University Life. I was placed into a 4 bed flat, good sized rooms and a good sized kitchen and communal area.
The accommodation is placed very central and is well in walking distance to the railway station, main high street, shopping centres, seafront ,nightclubs, pubs and bars and the university itself!
Staff have been amazing over the past year with all the support, laughs and sorting out maintenance problems efficiently and effectively. Thank you especially to Euan, Mark, Dan, Grant and Lloyd! I would highly recommend this accommodation to anyone :)
