Monday's job mk1 R Ltd 1.8 .Remove the knocking engine .Dash and remove full loom front to back.And convert it to mk2.5 engine and loom 146bhp..More photo's to come next week.

Another mk2.5 saved a few weeks ago from the scrap yard..both sills inners and outer.

Twice, me and my partner have been here realy impresed with the work wouldnt take our car anywere eles (even if we live miles away) carl n the lads do amazing work !!! Even tho they are realy busy they make time to help you out plus they know what they are talking about !!!



1st time- we drove all the way from hull as our mx5 had bad rod nock and these guys sorted us out n got us back on the road within the day (car drives like a dream 😁😁)



2nd time - was due to somebody driveing into the back of us, again carl n the lads did an amazaing job cant fault the work they have done !!! Even tho our mx5 (olaf) gave them a little headache with paint (as its perl white) they manged to sort it out (sorry lol 😝)



Anyhow enough of me going on i would like to say a big THANK YOU !!! 😃😃😃😃

Took my car to Carl (as recomended by a friend as cbs autos is about 1 hour 20 from me) with a brief description of what was wrong with it, straight away Carl starting getting his hands dirty checking everything that he believed was wrong with the car, turned out the fuel pump was faulty, he showed me the flow and pressure of fuel on my car, and because I didn't know what it was suppose to be like, he proved it on another mk1. Carl Changed the fuel pump and told me to go and test drive it to see if it's better, the car was still poorly but not as poorly as it was before. Turns out I had another problem linking to the fuel pump fault too. Carl checked more to diagnose further and within half an hour the car was running like it never had before after he changed a few more parts relating to another issue. Just before I was leaving the garage a happy chap, I was sat in the car with it idling, talking to carl, next minute he wonders off grabs a touch, looks under the car and out of nowhere says there's another issue, reverse the car in backwards for me, wasn't a serious issue, was just one of the main earths wasn't connected to the chassis underneath. Carl fixed this issue within 2 minutes. {--- goes to show how much carl really knows about the cars as he randomly just knew it wasnt connected from the car idling.

Cbs autos is super friendly and talented in what they do. Definitely worth the 1 hour 20 drive any day as they have parts there waiting to be fitted so no waiting around for them to be delivered.

Carl and Ant take pride in there work and go the extra mile to see another happy customer leaving:)

Your not just a customer for one job, your a customer for a lifetime with these chaps.

Will definitely be visiting again for some modifications next time :)

Shockingly good... I had grounded my MX5 my3.5 and took it to the local garage, who agreed that there was a fault and we could see the damage to the underneath... Three of the mechanics there couldn’t advise on the fault, the cost or anything besides worrying me that it might be a write-off...



I had the car transported up to Carl, despite having no room to book it in, he said he would have a quick look at it. I called back a few days later for the bad news on the quote price, and was shocked to learn that it’s all done for a few hours of labour, £100, no big deal, no parts needed...



Just demonstrates the difference that a real enthusiast and specialist makes when it comes to these matters...



Forever grateful and now forever a customer...

Carl has been looking after my BMW E46 325i for nearly three years and my BMW E46 M3 for a year now, and over that time he has saved me probably £1,000s in repairs and maintenance bills that I’d of received from a main dealer or some other dodgy 3rd party mechanic over that time.



A great example of this is when I hit a diesel slick couple years back and kerbed the left side of the 325i against a high kerb; insurance company repair company quoted over £10000 for repairs (pretty much trying to scrap the car for parts as it was in very good condition otherwise, as they offered to do the scrapping of the car for me to ‘save me the trouble’). Carl did it all for an awful lot less which included replacing the steering rack, suspension and body work repairs and a new full set of genuine BMW M-Sport alloy wheels!



Carl’s work over the years has been faultless, always using solid high quality parts & the highest standards of work in every job he takes on. Every time I get my cars back they feel and drive so much better. I’d never go anywhere else to get my car repairs and services.

My 2.5 has just had chassis legs repaired and new rear sills. MOT’d as well. Well chuffed with the excellent service provided by Carl and Ant.

Just collected my pride and joy after the experts have re- under sealed the car and given it the best service its had in its life. More exciting to drive- and a happy 40 mile drive back home. Thanks to the knowledgable team at CBS.

Edit: Came back to cbs a couple of months later for a 4-2-1 manifold and decat making. Car sounds brilliant and he fixed other issues without being asked. Couldn't be happier.



Edit 2: so... Decided to take the plunge on an engine swap in my mk1 after the 1.6 decided it was going pop. Asked Carl if a 1.8 vvt could be put in from a mk2.5 and here i am.

Power is loads better with the vvt working as it should. It's had a full loom swap including dash out and lots of clever wiring for lights and the likes of that. Will be sure to have my car booked in with cbs for welding and underseal at some point. Cheers to Carl, Ant and Leon for getting my car done in short notice. �

I took the car up to carl and the lads to get the sills sorted on my mk1 eunos. I thought it would be a struggle since they'd seen better days, and it wasn't the original paint colour. They done a cracking job and now it looks brand new again, colour is perfectly matched perfectly finished and showed me pictures of the work along the way. And threw a new clutch in for me while it was with them too. Turned the car around incredibly quickly and the work can only be described as spot on.

I recently took my mark 2.5 to a "specialist" garage to get a non working hand brake sorted. After a day's work they asked me to leave it for another days work which I declined....Anthony at CBS fixed the issue in 4 minutes, timed accurately!!

It's absolutely fantastic to find mega skilled guys that you can trust to look after your MX5 for ever....plus Carl must be the funniest engineer in England!

Great work from the guys today sorting my little mx5 out and figuring out the little gremlins that were hiding within! �� couldn’t be happier � went above and beyond my expectations!! Great job! �

Cbs autos stands out in a world of Mx5 “specialists”. Carl really knows what he’s talking about and will be honest with you even if it means less income for him. My car was booked in for an extensive engine/loom swap, however on inspecting the car Carl advised me that I would be better opting for a straight 1.8 swap and saving up to sort the rust issues out or swapping my parts to another car (A much less profitable job for him). Not only did Carl immediately identify why I had issues, he sorted them quickly and for a reasonable price, I wouldn’t take my 5 anywhere else now. All in all, well worth travelling for regardless of your location. Thanks lads! �

Carl is amazing! After being given a lot of doom and gloom from another garage he made quick work of my welding and other bits, squashing my car in around his other work. When picking the car back up he could not help me enough, he really knows what hes on about and you can tell he has a passion for MX5's. All done at a reasonable price. Cant rate this place highly enough. Friendly first class service. Took my MPS in this morning for a worrying oil pressure light and came out 2 hours later with new part delivered, fitted and a couple of pure white sidelights fitted too. Will definately be back for future services and work. ���

Big thanks to Carl & Ant for swapping out my original Mazda clutch on my Mk2.75, replacing the exhaust back box and connecting my rear anti roll bar & drop links the right way round. Can’t imagine which cowboy put it on the wrong way round? Oops! The car drives so much better after the work but it’s still a bit clunky at the back until the roll bar straightens out the right way. Hope this will pass with more driving! Frank from Oldham. ��

After reading lots of 5 star reviews, I decided to take my rare R-Ltd to CBS Autos to have a straight forward arch and sill repair.



After Carl noticed the MX5 City badge on my car he pre warned me that he was aware of their work and he would let me know what he finds. Turns out the aparrantly "professional" company where a bunch of utter cowboys and had not only ruined the underside of my car, they went to great extent to hide their shoddy work! The car was completely unsafe and had to be "written off".



Obviously I was completely gutted and angry but I had no proof of the work for me to pursue any sort of claim with MX5 City. We can spread the word though as there are plenty of pictures of this car on CBS auto's page.



Carl very kindly set out to find me a replacement car and after showing me a couple of perfect cars I managed to talk him into selling his own personal MX5 Icon. It's a stunning car and drives so much better than my old death trap from MX5 City!



A massive thanks to all at CBS autos. You've made me a very happy customer �

Absolutely great! Had the parts i needed to fix my car and has everything and anything to do with an mx5 that you can think of! Also i dont think there is anything the guy doesnt know! Great service and showed me round aswell which was good cant rate it enough!

CBS is well out of the way for me but more than worth the drive for me to know I'm having a proper job done. Carl is amazing! After being given a lot of doom and gloom from another garage he made quick work of my welding and other bits, squashing my car in around his other work. When picking the car back up he could not help me enough, he really knows what hes on about and you can tell he has a passion for MX5's. All done at a reasonable price. Cant rate this place highly enough. Friendly first class service. Took my MPS in this morning for a worrying oil pressure light and came out 2 hours later with new part delivered, fitted and a couple of pure white sidelights fitted too. Will definately be back for future services and work. ���

Big thanks to Carl & Ant for swapping out my original Mazda clutch on my Mk2.75, replacing the exhaust back box and connecting my rear anti roll bar & drop links the right way round. Can’t imagine which cowboy put it on the wrong way round? Oops! The car drives so much better after the work but it’s still a bit clunky at the back until the roll bar straightens out the right way. Hope this will pass with more driving! Frank from Oldham. ��

After reading lots of 5 star reviews, I decided to take my rare R-Ltd to CBS Autos to have a straight forward arch and sill repair.



After Carl noticed the MX5 City badge on my car he pre warned me that he was aware of their work and he would let me know what he finds. Turns out the aparrantly "professional" company where a bunch of utter cowboys and had not only ruined the underside of my car, they went to great extent to hide their shoddy work! The car was completely unsafe and had to be "written off".



Obviously I was completely gutted and angry but I had no proof of the work for me to pursue any sort of claim with MX5 City. We can spread the word though as there are plenty of pictures of this car on CBS auto's page.



Carl very kindly set out to find me a replacement car and after showing me a couple of perfect cars I managed to talk him into selling his own personal MX5 Icon. It's a stunning car and drives so much better than my old death trap from MX5 City!

Absolutely great! Had the parts i needed to fix my car and has everything and anything to do with an mx5 that you can think of! Also i dont think there is anything the guy doesnt know! Great service and showed me round aswell which was good cant rate it enough!

Absolutely amazing! Can't rate this highly enough. The service is 100% the staff are very welcoming and more than happy to help with any problem. CBS is well out of the way for me but more than worth the drive for me to know I'm having a proper job done. I truly cannot recommend to anyone more than any other garage. 5 stars, absolutely spot on �

5 minutes at CBS and problem diagnosed that means Im not thinking a new engine is required. Carl always knows the answer, great service again.
